hi everyone,

i found this cheap Albatron 6800 nu at Computer Alliance (im an aussie)

heres the link,

http://www.computeralliance.com.au/parts.aspx?qryPart=3943

is this card worth the price? will the card last me long with its 128mn DDR RAM? will i get maximum performance/quality in hl2, far cry and doom 3? should i wait and get the GT when it comes down in price? (i cant get it now cause i have to pay an extra $200). is Albatron a good brand?

cheers!

Hi hellknight, I'm an aussie too and I'm looking around for a geforce 6...but I may not be buying one for at least another month or two. I'm holding off to see reviews and comparisons. But...judging buy the price of 549 it's not that bad compared to how much I paid for my 5900Nu when it came out in aus ~ $660.

What kind of system have you got by the way?

Should accomodate that system nicely, I saw a considerable boost coming from my 5900 Ultra to my 6800 Non Ultra on my Athlon XP 3200+ Barton System.

It seems the 6800NU line might be a good midway for those who dont buy A64 systems. Thought a GT still wouldnt hurt.

I'm from Australia as well, but the cheapest 6800 i've seen is the one from I-Tech (http://www.i-tech.com.au/products/item1700.asp). It's a Leadtek Winfast A400Ultra (6800 Ultra) for $839. It's not a cheap card, but it's the cheapest 6800 Ultra in Australia.
