And no more spyware installed automatically when you visit a site either! Now if only Micro$oft would make its Windows Update compatible with Firefox.

Microsoft (I hate the little $ thing. It completley destroys the spelling of the word, making the work Microoft. Although I do agree MS is a bunch of money gouging nitwits, I don't approve of sacrificing spelling for them. Anyway, back to thing I was talking about) will never get it right. So far, two major vulnerabilites have been found in their updated SP2 browser just today! One allows people to steal bank records from a pop-up window in the browser, and another let's any website have access to the user's hard drive, and can install malicious software.

Microsoft claims, however, that they are working as fast as possible to fix the problems.

I just switched to Firefox myself and I like it too! I use online banking alot, as well as make online purchases. The other day my credit card number got stolen and an unauthorized purchase was made. I immediately had the card disabled and my bank is going after the jerks that did it, but after some research I began to realize the most likely place they got my card info was Microsoft Internet Explorer. I checked my computer thoroughly for Viruses, Spyware, I made sure I had all MS updates, my hardware and software firewall are working... but still everything point to an MSIE hole somewhere. I've made the complete switch to Mozilla and I'm staying this way. I am so fet up with MSIE, you simply can't trust it anymore.

I have to wonder if some of these other browsers like firefox might not have some security vulnerabilities that we don't see exposed simply because they aren't the defacto standard web browser.

Excellent point. Despite it's increased popularity, Firefox is still just only 2%~3% as far as browser types used. IE is in the upper 90% range. I love Firefox myself and use it almost exclusively, however, as it gains a larger user base so will come the slings and arrows. :)
