Still beta, but interesting... 6800U comes up on top in most cases :)

Yup seen that . pretty interesting .

i wish that Valve follows CryTek steps & support SM3.0 in HL2 ! :D (wishfull thinking) .

Pretty cool to see the $299 6800 will be able to play HL2 will all the goodies on at 30fps+

So basically the numbers are about even for the high end cards at stock levels like in a lot of games lately. I like the fact the frame rates look good at 1600x1200 with AA/AF and hopefully they will get better before the game's release.

HL2 is listed in that thread for SM 3.0 games this year. It will probably be implemented later on with a patch just like Far Cry.

You know i'm thinking theres been a trade between NV & ATi .
If NV allowed CryTek to implement 3Dc on thier FarCry , ATi will respond by allowing Valve to implement SM3.0 in HL2 :thinker: :D

I reckon we sahould wait for retail HL2 benchies :D I remeber how slow the erm hem *cough*leaked*UT2k3* was compared to retail version but it does look good.

Are all cards running the same path, or are some using the NV3x path and others using the standard dx9 path?

I hope drivers improve because that doesnt look terribly exciting to me. I have to assume thats with Trilinear/Anistropic Filteirng opts on? Personally I hope to see some real improvements in the future the future to the game and this 6800 drivers wise. I hope what they were sayen about more performance out of the Nv40 to be true.

Huh, 6800 getting 2-3 times the performance of the FX5950u, not bad. Though I'm rather suprised the FX5950 is as fast as it is, it's nearly as fast as the 9800 (amazing how small the gap has become since the first benchmarks between the two cards were released). Also suprising is the fact that AA seems to have such a minimal performance hit on all of these cards...a 25% hit worst-case scenario from 4xAA isn't bad at all. But man, 1600x1200 with 4xAA/lvl16Aniso at over 45 FPS in a game like Half-life 2? Pretty nice, looks like the 6800/x800 will finally have a game that puts them to good use.

im kinda more interested in stalker's final benchmark when the game comes. with the SM3.0 enabled on stalker, and all the grass and vegetation, it should be interesting. :)

I play games @ 1024x768 resolution. And by these benchmarks. I'd say not really. Though I highly doubt (That if its running the NV3x pathway) its optimal for the 6800 hardware.

Whats the percentage gain for ATI with the optimisations on and whats the percentage gain for nVidia with optimisations on ?

The problem now is that you have to be clearly careful when looking at AA/AF results to know how the web site benched.

Andy

You can't turn off ATI ops.

what i find quite funny was when Gabe Newell said that it will run better on ATi than nVidia, he was talking about the X800XT vs 5950U

If HL2 is optimized to take into account the forte of the 6800s it could be interesting :)

but we'll definately see much more improvements in the retail build of HL2

i'm guessing something in the range of 40fps & above

I can not beleive any of you put any stock into this ripped off non-working version of HL2. This "beta" has about as much in common with the Final Game as 3Dmark has in prededicting the results....

Nice work on finding the benchies. I can't wait to see Doom 3 benchmarks on my 6800GT. I'm so going to piss my pants when I get Doom 3.
