@ 4PM pacific time. Everyone is calling BFG to see whats up with the 6800 cards for best buy. The plan is to phone mob them everyday at 4pm until we get a straight answer about when best buy is getting the cards.

lol, maybe you should leave them alone so they'll have more staff working on inventory...lol, but worth a try for sure.

That'll work real well since their main office closes at 5 p.m. Central. :lol2:

the cards aren't shipping because there is very lil to ship. u won't hear it officially but there is a reason why and most the blame goes to the fab in fishkill?

If everyone did that, they'd probably get sued for harrasment or something.

Of course, an organized protest in front of their main office is within our constitutional rights, but I think everyone is too lazy to actually get up from their phones and do something, including me.

It does seem to be a production issue, IBM are hinting that their designs work OK but customers do not, nVidia have said nothing.

They managed to get the 5700U out ok and it overclocked well, so maybe this complex design is tricky ro do and is being re-jigged ?

dude the transistor count between nv36 and nv40 (6800 Ultras GTs and UE) are more than double. It's wasn't going to be a situation where the 210 million die yeilds would be anywhere near their nv3x lines maybe. But still, it is worse then probably NV or IBM projected. Enough so that the supplies are that thin.

Here's what I don't understand.

When people talk about the lack of X800XT PE, it's usually due to the lack of 1200mhz GDDR3. When people talk about the lack of 6800U, it's due to poor yields on the chip (because of past history), but nothing about lack of 1200mhz GDDR3. Sure, it could be both poor yields and very little available ram, but it seems likely that since both high end cards are few and far between, it's for the same reason, lack of high speed GDDR3.

Lezmarka...u maybe right, could be a combination of things and I had totally forgotten about the supplies of low ns GDDR3 memory modules!!! thanks for enlightening me :D

Heh, i E-mailed BFG Tech about it a while ago, they didnt answer so far, but your more likely to get a responce from one email than a thousdand calls.

Anyways, i doubt that you will actually ever be able to get ahold of someone at 'bfg' because their techsupport is off site, and i doubt they have listed number at their hq.

Everyone uses cell phones these days ; )

Ah, that's where ye would be wrong, my friend. Their HQ number is:

It's listed on the "Contact Us" part of their site.

That's a tech support line for a third-party company that BFG contracts with to handle those calls. Calling that number will do absolutely nothing. It will do more harm than good when BFG checks in with that company and they say a whole bunch of dopes are flooding our lines with idiotic phone calls about something that is of no concern to them.

They seem to post at HardOCP about it, and thats giving mroe of a crap about it than other comapnys.

However, maybe there is just nothing they can say at this time, everyone who didnt get a 6800 ultra oc wont get one for a while.

No name calling if that is what you were doing. Settle down and don't get crazy its not going to get you the card any faster. Does your credit card have enough credit available for them to charge it on? It seems that some got their's shipped.
