I am looking into getting a new LCD monitor that can do resolutions of 1600x1200. After looking around and reading many reviews, I have narrowed them down to this one.
DELL UltraSharp 2001FP 20.1-inch Flat Panel LCD Monitor

What do you think of this monitor and would you suggest another that is better?

While it has specs that you can only dream of, the 2001FP is not a gamer's monitor. The afterglow is too visible. To get an idea, it's worse than monitors based on TN + Films

Afterglow? What is he talking about? Nearly all LCDs have problems creating true blacks so if that's what he's getting at there... Silly if you ask me.
I am satisfied with mine and I came from a GDMF500R CRT. So did a friend of mine. I sold him my Sony CRT, he sold it for a 2001FP just like I did. And he's pretty happy with it. So take what Tom says here with a grain of salt...
Look @ it this way. If you end up being disappointed, return it. Dell gives you I believe 30 days to do so.

This doesn't do 1600x1200, as it is a 17" monitor, but I thought I would mention it since I have only heard and read great things about this monitor in terms of gaming. I would go as far as to say this is the best LCD monitor, currently, for gaming. Still, no LCD is perfect.
If you have little to no interest in gaming then please diregard my reply. ;)

Hello,
No LCD is perfect for gameing yet, if it were me, id buy the monitor from dell because its a sweet monitor.
Also, since your useing a 6800 Ultra, have you considerd useing dual monitors, keep a CRT for gameing and the lcd + crt for web browsing ; D

Got the Dell FP2001 back in December when they first did the 999.99 - 25% off when the monitor first came out.
Best LCD that I have ever personally witnessed. I've tried the Samsung 213T, 191T, and seen in person the Dell 1800 and 1901 models. None hold a candle to this Dell FP2001.
Before this FP2001, I had for my home gaming system a Viewsonic 21" (19 viewable) P815. The Dell FP2001 is far and away better than it.
I've no idea what Tom's Hardware is on about, but I think they might have an "arrangement" with Samsung similar to Anand's arrangement with Samsung. ;) Still, Samsung's are good, but of the ones I tried in the year before this Dell FP2001, none could replace my CRT until this Dell.
I've had no regrets at all. Except that I hurt my back lugging that 21"-er into the garage. ;) And my room got cooler, so I had to put on some slippers while I game.
I bought the dell 1801 and I have never noticed anything wrong with it. Works like a charm on every game I have, no ghosting or anything.
