Hi

*English aint my native language so please have that in mind...*

I´ve seen many threads about people complaining about the price they have to pay for the new GF6800U. I think you should know how lucky you are, especially US-people.

Here in Denmark the CHEAPEST price i´ve seen so far is 664 USD. It´s actually a quite normal price for top-of-the-line GFX-card. I just haven´t thought of it before now. We non-US consumers are getting ripped off, and apparently its US-people who´s complaining the most!?

This thread isn´t an attack against US-people... it´s just a reminder about how lucky you guys sometimes are..... ;)

I, for one, haven't complained, except for the fact that it took forever for the card to ship. If my GF6800UOC cost $664USD, I would NOT be buying one!

What are you talking about? Cards here are expensive too. A 6800U right now is selling for $600 here

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-145-086&depa=0

AND IT'S NOT EVEN IN STOCK!!

The extra $64 is most likely going to UPS and middlemen at European wharehouses.

The fact is everybody is getting ripped off.

The truth is, all these cards are overpriced.

The latest video cards are not worth what they charge. Unfortunatly, people are willing to pay to play, so they charge whatever they want.

i think he ment that 664 is the normal price where he lives. and 600 here is definately not a normal price. we complain about price being 600? but they pay 660+, and think its normal. if anything, we got it good based off what hes saying.

so yeah i agree with Cetti.

I got mine, dealer price for £375 CYP, which is $750 USD. Normal sale price is £498 CYP, that's $996 USD. :) Normal pricing for a 9800 Pro is currently £200 which is $400 USD. Some high end cards from Asus (5950U/9800XT) were sold £520 4 months ago, which is $1040 USD. So, yes I agree, US citizens get everything cheaper. :)

Here in UK, the cheapest 6800 Ultra is £371, that £14 cheaper than I bought 5900 Ultra exactly 1 year ago, it not a UK rip off. :)

Yeah but you had to pick it up from the post office in your car and paid the equivalent of $5 per gallon to get it

So no complaining about gas prices in the USA either please :) You guys have it too easy. LOL

Andy

You know any place where I can find a 6800U in HK? I went to the 298 Computer Mall in Wanchai last week, and there was none. There's a guy located in Hong Kong and is selling Inno3D 6800U's for US$725 on ebay, and he has 5 of them in stock, so there must be some way of finding them locally. Makers like Forsa and Inno3D are based in HK, so the price shouldn't be too bad.

It was at the Southern Playground Mall man. On the top floor in the small alley way between that centrafield shop I think and another one selling i think Audio speakers etc. But it is located right after the escaltors from the 2nd floor. The escalators that only go up and start near Game City (2nd hand shop).

I saw a Forsa 6800 Non U btw. Might be better if you tried Golden Arcade in Sham Shui Po. They always have the latest stuff. Mong Kok...thats rubbish.

We get the best prices because we have the most volume. We deserve lower prices as such =) This goes for gas, video cards, whatever. The USA generally fills the pockets of any given industry more than any other country.

Bad_boy knows what im talking about... The point in my thread is, that I realized that the prices for top-notch GFX-cards in Denmark is way WAY higher than what US-people pay. Said in another way : 664USD is quite normal to pay. It has been this price since the days of TNT-2.

As the matter of fact, todays currency (danish vs. USD), is very low. Its 1 dollar = 6 danish crowns. So 499 dollars * 6 = 2994 danish crowns. The CHEAPEST offer i´ve seen is 3999 danish crowns = approx. ~ 664 USD.

If the dollar was more worth, for example : 1 dollar = 7 danish crowns, the price would be 499*7 = 3493 + 1000 (taxes etc etc) = 4493 = 748USD!!!

So im very glad the dollar is so cheap. Otherwise it would easy be 748.

Rohackle ->> "Operation marked garden"... please explain what you mean... And why am I so lucky?

Steeda ->> I think its completely wrong to say "We deserve lower prices".

Think about this : US-people complain about 499USD. European people dont complain about 6-700USD.... What´s wrong with that picture?? :retard: Has its something to do with EU-people have more money than the average american "joe" ?

Cetti: I am not insulting other countries. Volume means EVERYTHING in sales. The US buys the most volume, therefore has "earned" lower prices.

Back in my day a new video card cost a penny short of a nickel and it came with a free mule too. :argh:

Lets say, thats true.... but what do you have to say about my question :

Think about this : US-people complain about 499USD. European people dont complain about 6-700USD.... What´s wrong with that picture?? Has its something to do with EU-people have more money than the average american "joe" ?

European people dont complain about 6-700USD

Is that with or without your 15-20% sales tax?

Cetti
07-07-04, 04:51 PM
Its WITH all taxes included... final price...

So its approx. 165 USD for sending it to europe from USA + "sales taxes" (dunno if its called that). I think that is too much. It can´t be that expensive to ship it to europe... and with the open market we have overhere, there shouldnt be any chance of ripping costumers off by such a large scale.

As I said in the beginning... You´re luckier than you think.. 499 USD is considered NOTHING for at top-notch card in Denmark...

Apparently its only GFX-cards this problem exist. CPU´s cost the same... well allmost..

I think i have the right to complain when 6800NU's are advertised to be around the $900AUD. Why do the Aussies suffer so much!!!! The cheapest advertised 6800U is $839.

Us Canadians get ripped of as well. It's not like we live very far way from the U.S. 80 % of the population in Canada live 100 km from the American border. I saw an 6800 Ultra here for pre-order and it was $841. That's about 640 U.S.
