Curious what I should expect. All I really want is to hit NVIDIA's spec for Ultra.

A lot of people have, and almost every GT can overclock to the Ultra speeds, and in a lot of cases, past it

What I find weird is, if it's so easy to get these things to Ultra speed, why the hell can't any manufacturer produce Ultra's in volume? GT's are everywhere now.

my bfg wouldn't do it. my eVGA does better than ultra speeds. I sent the bfg back

Well I hope I picked a good one then out of the 30 or so there lol.

The memory chips the Ultra have are different in spec (1.6ns vs. the slower 2.0ns of the GT). Both X800XTs and 6800 Ultras have these faster memory chips which I think are in short supply.

I'm thinking it aint just gpu, but also the 1.6ns ram that the ultras come with. I'm willing to bet that stuff is sorta scarce

True, but people seem to be getting there RAM to blow right by 550(1100) on GT's too. Maybe the GDDR manufacturers are ultra-conservative in their speed ratings.

The memory on my BFG 6800GT OC will only do 1.08. 410/1.08 is 100% stable but Im gonna keep it at 400/1.08.

Do you regret not holding out for an Ultra? Just curious. I am doubting I'll be able to detect a difference in gameplay if I had a GT or Ultra @ stock speed.

I know that i'll be getting a 6800GT for the fact it's cheaper and there is hardly any difference between it and the Ultra.

Same. I think I have a little bit of "buyers remorse". I always do, wondering if I should have held out for the Ultra.

My BFG out did it.. then out did itself*.. 440/1150..

*Card died not while oc'd..

looks like Ultras are getting alittle more of an OC, but not much, wonder if that is the difference between 1 molex and 2? or does the Bios feed it alittle more juice?

That's definately gotta suck, GravY.. To get such a great OC on your GT, and then have it die on ya... Hope the new one will do just as good :)

I'm amazed how far some folks are able to push their GTs. Best I can do is 431/1120. The core I'm not disappointed with but it's the memory that's bugging me. Most review sites and people here have gotten theirs up to at least 1140-1150. Oh well.

off subject but I got my BFG 6800 Ultra OC running @ EE speeds... 450/1.2

didnt go any further yet.

I have been able to manually OC my reference 6800GT to 430/1050. However, when I have Auto OC set, I usually get 200-300 points more on 3D Mark 03 and +/- 500 points on A3 than when I have it manually OC'd.

No, my Athlon XP would be a huge bottleneck anyways. So far I've had mixed feelings on the card. I really wanted 16xAF but there is a huge performance hit when enabling it.

I'm hoping for Farcry at 16x12x2AAx8AF....

Your Athlon XP isn't that huge of a bottle neck, I have compared my score to people with a X800XT with better cpu's and I'm only 300 3dmarks away for example, and every review I have seen my score matches them never lower!

They are. If they used the 2.0ns RAM on the Ultra's you could pretty much forget getting any kind of worthwhile overclock.

The cores are in good supply. nVidia and ATI are just having to wait on the 1.6ns RAM modules. As of late i think the X800XT PE has become more vaporware than the 6800 ultra.

My highest OC so far on a BFG GT is 440/1120, but it locked up on the Ragtroll test of 3DMark03, of all places :)

I'll try again when my new PSU gets here, but it's plenty fast at 370/1.0, so it's really just for grins.

Consider the GT only has 1 molex connector and majority still hits Ultra speed or beyond, its quite amazing. :)

If only AIB will release GT with 2 molex, I'm sure it can go further ....
