Anyone see this? Is it true, or bunk?

EDIT: You need to read the quote a little, towards the bottom of the 1st post.

"I am sorry I overlooked the XT on the desired card. I have a source that you
may order the card. The best card out there, VisionTek X800XT .
If this is the video card you want. I can place your order as soon as I
receive the funds from you. This will place you in line for this card as it
comes down the assembly line. When your video card comes off the line and is
tested out for any flaws. This card will be shipped to you. This order line
is presently about a week, I am sure the waiting time will grow every day as
orders come in. This is a single card order system, therefore anyone could
not order 10-?? and get everyone else behind. Let me know if this is the
card you want, go to paypal and pay us via credit card, or you can send a
certified check from your bank to us. Then we will place the order for you,
and hopefully you will get your card very soon. The GF6800Ultra has been
suspneded indefinately from retail sales. I am not sure what the problem is
with this card. This means that ATI will be getting a lot of nVidia card
orders, since thier card cannot be ordered. Thank You for using us for your
computer needs. These cards are listed on our site for the price of $620.95.
Since we have the privledge of purchasing form the manfacturer we can offer
a price of $574.95 + shipping and handling. This is a price break of $46.00
in your favor.
Let me know asap about this so we can get this in line for you.
Thanks BJ"

Probably not true. I hope they dont have a problem with the chip. I'm sure if they did tho they would replace all the ones already sold and shipped.

But honestly I dont think there is anything to this. Hope I'm correct in my judgement.

I would have a hard time believing any such -- especially from a retailer who has a direct pipeline to ATI and can get an X800 XTPE for "only" $574. (A $46 discount.)

I got an email from BFG today and they say they are pumping out cards as fast as they can, but demand is high. It is just going to take a while for there to be a decent supply in the retail channel.

Now I need to go over to Rage3d and talk about my direct relationship with the manufacturer. I can get folks over there a like new 8500LE for less than $300.

The X800XT probably has a higher profit margin for that reseller so he'd say anything to get you to buy it. I'd take that with a huge lump of salt, tell that reseller to screw off, order a BFG or eVGA 6800 GT and call it a day.

This is very hard to believe. It is most likely the .02 from someone as to why the cards are not plentiful.

Am i the only one who thinks this guy is scamming?

The best card out there, VisionTek X800XT .

Ok, that is just compeltely made up. Manufacutres dont ship to customers, if they did you woudlnt be buying it though a RESELLER. Then he pulls the usually scam (tell them what they want you to hear). Eg visiontek is the best one out there (however they buy their cards mfg'ed from ati they are the same)

Lets move on to the part that matters however, Payment.

.Let me know if this is the
card you want, go to paypal and pay us via credit card, or you can send a
certified check from your bank to us.These cards are listed on our site for the price of $620.95.

Alright, the MSRP is 499$ so what kinda price break is that.

the big kicker is He wants to take PayPal or a Casheirs Check though the mail.
Can a Reseller who has TIES with the manufactures that can buy ONE card directly from them not beable to take credit cards over the phone? Aparnetly so.

Its rubbish, cant you tell by language used in the post ? its either a kid playing games, or a 10 year old salesman :D

Lock this thread and delete these posts, it will only cause greif for the people who ordered their cards.

Well my 6800u card runs fine, it doesnt say which brand of card for starters, and there are a lot of companies selling them, it just says the 6800u DUH :retard: :retard:

Strangely similar to the FUD posted at R3D this past weekend from the guy who claims a CompUSA manager told him that ATI was not shipping the X800XT PE because they were about to launch a dual chip X800XT-PE with 512 MB of memory that would DOUBLE the current PE performance..... :lame:

Very funny, the availability of 6800Ultra is getting better everyday in China.

It's utter BS. There are MASSIVE amounts of GT's at Fry's across the country, all clocked a mere 30Mhz from the Ultra spec. There is nothing wrong with the GPU. Funny, GT's hit Fry's shelves in quantity BEFORE X800 Pro's.

It just reminds me of all the salespeople that I hear in stores that try to talk like they know something about computer technology. The sad thing is, most of their customers know less, so the customers take their word as law.
