For the first time in my life, I actually went backwards in technology, on purpose and, I like it! :) After finally being fed up with the corky ness of Logitech’s implementation of Bluetooth (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm?countryid=19&languageid=1&page=products/features/cordlesstopics&CRID=1844&ad=smpr_bt) technology into their premier kb + mouse combo, I’m finally selling the diNovo Media Desktop (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=486,CONTENTID=7321) & have replaced it with the Logitech MX 510 (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=3,CONTENTID=8070) (gaming mouse) + *new* Logitech Clavier Media Keyboard. Never thought I’d ever go back to a “wired” solution but for a true fps gamer, the difference makes a substantial impact in accuracy. Just ask the nubs in UT2004 I pwnd last night :D

Don’t get me wrong though, when coupled w/ the latest version of Setpoint (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/downloads/software/US/EN,CRID=1796,contentid=7692) (2.1b), the diNovo is excellent for an everyday work environment but even compared to an old Intellimouse 3.0 I had lying around, the MX900 just can’t hold a candle to the “smoothness” achieved using a wired solution or even to the awesome MX700 (currently being used @ work).

Overall I think this will at least hold me off until Logitech updates their product line w/ the release of the new tilt-wheel mice. Go ahead, just call me a peripheral freak :wonder:

My machine is a game box......I'd be hard pressed to unleash form the wires, my Logi MX510 \ USB Elite are just too good in games to to even think about giving up for a little freedom and a neater desktop ;)

I have the Cordless MX desktop and I've found it to be more than sufficient for gaming. I had tried the MX900 and couldn't agree more about the weirdness associated with Bluetooth. The MX700 is a far better mouse.

I know I use one at work. Was just saying overall it’s the best wireless solution out there, no lag for fps.

Its obvious in this day and age, newer doesn't always mean better ;)

no only bluetooth means it's slow. :D It consumes a lot of power so the mx900 mouse powers down after a default amount of time, and/or the device has to connect with the receiver again...thats why u see the lag. ;)

I think....

A little off topic, but when I read your thread title "Back to the Stone age" I was worried maybe you fried your A64 rig! :kill:

lol :lol2:

Ya I'm not a fan of wireless either, there seems to be a slight pause when you first start using the mouse if it hasnt moved in awhile, and I also wouldn't wanna deal with batteries.

Yes it does. And although it reconnects automatically, "wake up" time can take on avg anywhere from 2-10 secs, very annoying. The use of RF tech in MX700 is much, much better.

hehe, no still loving the A64 setup. MSI released a couple bios updates that correct the temp reading problem too. 36c idle/45c load @ 2.4Ghz :D

Thanks for the link jAkUp. It looks pretty but there's no mention of any perf updates. I'm trying to dig up the pics of Logitech's new mice. Warp2search had links to the pics several weeks ago but I can't find the old news article.

Here's a quick pic (http://www.juicez.net/nvnews/new-setup.jpg) of the new setup, not quite as stylish as b4 but performance > aesthetics. Logitech has finally moved that stupid F-lock key above the standard F keys so its not accidentally pressed anymore.

Also found some low-res pics of their new products:
