At stock speeds, it looks like the 6800GT and the 6800Ultra are about 7 fraps apart in actualy game play based on the following tests:

Would this difference actually be perceptable in game play? Many people overclock to obtain less of an improvement and I am curious if was seems to be a small jump in actual gameplay performance is really noticable.

It depends on what the FPS are. If it's 14 versus 21 then yes. If it's 49 vs 56 no. ( imo ) Look at percentages, not numbers.

Really depends on where the 7fps is comming from.

If its the Minimum FPS, then yes it will be noticeable, if its the average or Max fps, probly not.

7 FPS might be noticable if you're running something like Fraps, where you can see your FPS and notice that it's 7 FPS faster... lol. Apart from that, i'd have to agree with Steeda.

For sure!
There is a huge difference between 390 and 397 Frames per second!

Or so some stupid people would have you believe ;)

My eyes are sharp enough to see the difference and my moniter has a 500 FPS refresh rate. :)
