I got this rage pro 2x and i cant use any resoloution above 1280x1024 without the screen going into this panning mode, even though my monitor supports up to 1600x1200@85hz. Its the reccomended drivers from the ATI site and I have no clue what to do. I did set the maximum resoloution to 1600x1200 but it didnt help.

it might be a videocard limitation?

nope, its a driver issue. And I am not all that familiar with finding ATI drivers

and have you checked at rage3d? ;)

go into the display settings, advanced, and then the dispays tab I believe. Uncheck the "use DCC information" button.

If that doesn't fix the problem, post back and I'll try again. ;)

Nope, I fiddled with that for a while, but it wouldn't work.

hmm... so in the monitor section of the display tab under advanced settings you changed the maximum supported resolution and refresh rates from what they were to what the monitor can actually do? And you checked/unckecked the DCC information button? And it didn't solve the problem?

Man, that's a pain then... one of those two things should get rid of it. The only other thing I can think of is to try the specific drivers for your monitor (a .inf file I believe) instead of the default plug n play drivers windows uses.

man, all I wanna do is get open GL to work, Im using a rage pro and the deafault windows drivers, that dont have the panning problem, but they are dog slow with open gl. Its XP, any sugestions on where to find a driver?

hmm... I doubt that OGL problem is solvable. You see, the Rage Pro is just dog slow by today's standards, whether in OpenGL or D3D, with any driver ever made for it.

There's just not much you can do for a card several years old. :)
