According to a post from the Windows Update Beta Team a new build of Windows XP SP2 will be released soon via the Windows Update V5 site. This build includes many fixes for reported issues. The build may be installed on Windows XP RTM, SP1, SP2 RC1 build 2096, or SP2 RC2 build 2149. Installing the new SP2 build onto any other SP2 build is not supported.

The build is expected to be posted today and Microsoft will send out emails to Windows Update V5 testers as soon as it's released. A good guess would indicate the build released will be 2161 unless further builds have met the requirements for public release. Stay tuned for more information.

Sure thing. Further down that page someone mentions that August 18th is the earliest date to expect it. We'll see I suppose. :)

Sounds reasonble, because Microsoft is saying SP2 offical isnt going to be utnill September! I cant belive its that far away heh.

Yeah, as well as RC1/2 seem to have worked for me it's hard to figure out what the holdup is. :confused:

There has to be some reason or another though.

RC2s are basically "gold" so I'm not sure either. I'm sure they have good reasons though.

XP SP2 RTM date is set for 21 July 2004. :D

Actually, I just heard from someone @ work today they are delaying until Q1 of next year! Can anyone confirm this?

Why do I keep on thinking that Windows XP SP2 will be available on August 24, 2004, the anniversary of the release of Windows 95? :thinker:

Actually, I just heard from someone @ work today they are delaying until Q1 of next year! Can anyone confirm this?

(bs2) :lol: That nonsense, Microsoft decided to pushed back first week of August to give them time before RTM. :)

Yeah I kinda figured it was BS... After all, the the two release candidates have both been pretty good so far for me. Not sure what could've been wrong that would delay it that far.

Thus the skepticism. :)
