As long as they're not hosted here, why not let size go little larger and in process cut out hosting like say 145X145?

If one needs place to host here's one thats free - http://photobucket.com/

btw thanks for these> :alc:

seconded... :)

a slightly larger avatar size would be appreciated... I have to generally butcher my avatar's a fair deal to make em fit here...

Yes, I need to photochop a bob and doug. Right now I can only fit in bob.

Thirded. If anything because bog and doug should never be photochopped. :) You should throw an elsinore in there with 'em to complete the image.

I saw a neat canada t-shirt today. It said "Welcome to Canada. Take off eh!"

Doug is holding a beer but it looks to be generic beer. I had to chop the picture big time. I moved bob over in another layer to get the image to work.

I like the idea, 100x100 or something like that, and just set it to be hosted outside the site if you want it larger than 80x80.

Besides, my avatar looks sooo much better when it's larger.

what's wrong with small avatars? I likes em small or non-existant. Don't know about you all, but when I logon to a forum and I see all kinds of self-indulgent 'look at me I have the biggest baddest weirest avatar evar!' crap, I immediately think the forum's gone to the crapper and has a decreased chance of offering me anything useful. 100x100 wouldn't be bad, I suppose, but I think the smaller size lends a bit of credence to tastefullness (avatar content withstanding) while still allowing some individual expression (if desired).

ok- I'll shutup now. brief rant over. avatar away.

Why people mod they cars ?
Why do they mod PCs ?
Or customize they desktops , ware different clothes ?
Now why wouldn't they want a personal avatar ?

Becouse we CAN !! :beer2: age of slavery is long gone or not (kngt)

I had no problem with avatar I have now when I registered. I changed it, I found out there was size requirement, for the new avatar I wanted. I thought to myself...why? when my avatars come from my host the size, and however many bytes do not matter to this board. If my avatar is giving red x, I could see warning coming to me because of it, yes.

I do believe there should be limit on width, height, and bytes to each..but I was just asking for little more width and height, not more bytes. and thats to members hosts, not here.

edit: Bubba, you know, you like those female avs floating all around? or surely your not a female with name of Bubba?

I'm just glad you brought back the original DVS avatar.

Now we just need to argue about 5800U and the 9700 Pro like the good old days DVS.

Avatars are not always the broad stroke "self-indulgent" item that you suggest they are. They are also a good/fast visual indicator of individuals' posts. I use this method all the time when moderating (among other tools of course). ;)
