View Full Version : No artifacts in 3dMark03, but in Farcry!

I have a bit of a problem. First off, I have a GeForce 6800 GT OC from BFG. When I go into coolbits, i OC to 415/1.15, or 415/1150. I test it, and it's OK. I go into rivatuner, then test it at the same speeds, and it's OK. I run 3dMark03 3 times in a row with 0 artifacts, but everytime i start FarCry, I get artifacts about 5 minutes into the game. Not major ones, but smal blinking dots. This is the only game that does this. Please help!!

same here... Im getting flashing walls , almost like seethrough... Some say itll be fixed with the new patch.. I really hope so :(

I don't think it's a problem. I think some games or apps just stress the card differently. With my X800 Pro, I never got any artifacts in 3DMark03 and even after reaching a pretty high over clock it was still running it like a charm. Then I tried Halo and it locked within 5 minutes. Someone else on the forum was able to overclock his 6800 Ultra pretty far (more than normal) and it worked great with everything except UT2004. He'd have problems with that one. With my 6800 GT, games seem fine with some of my higher overclocks but I get glitches in the mother nature test in 3DMark03. Anyway, if you're getting artifacts, you need lower your overclock some.

Flashing walls is a heat issue. I was having the same problem @ 420 until my card modifications which lowered my temps 7 degrees.

I have to agree with OWA as my X800XT would also lock up in Far Cry and UT2K4 with the overclock level that I could run just fine in 3DMark03 and 3DMark01 with. I went ahead and backed off my overclock a slight bit and the problem went away.
