Though I was working late last night and didn't get a chance to watch the All-Star Game, I was listening to my favorite sports talk radio station and the two hosts spent a whole lot of time ripping apart Fantasia Borrino's gawdawful rendition of our national anthem. And they were right to do so. They played it this morning and I was about ready to :barf:

I mean, jeeez, was it so hard for her to a) not gospel-ize the music and b) learn the actual words to the freaking song?!?! Her and this whole American Idol business need to go away...fast.

I didn't hear it but let me guess, she completely over sang each note and tried to show how brilliantly gifted she is as a singer? I HATE THAT. Why can't singers now-a-days just hold a not but not for too long?

Not every note, but many of them, yes. That even wasn't as bad as the fact that she didn't know the freaking words to the song! I'll post another example later.

Whitney Houston did an amazing job of it during the Super Bowl the Giants were in back in the early 90s...forget what year exaxtly but Desert Shield was going on I belive so '91 or so.

I like it the best when firemen, policemen...any sincere civil servant like that sings it. I'd rather hear it sung "badly" by a genuine and true person than "well" by some glitz hound.
