61.45 and higher.

61.45 and the WHQL 61.72 have been working extremely well for me.

ive tried 61.71/61.72/62.01 all three make far cry unplayable so i go back to 61.36's...(by unplayable i mean, i get to the game and everything is fudged graphic wise and all i see are big squares everywhere

I had big blocks too and discovered the cause was under the More Direct3D tree. In there you will see a box titled Force texture to lowest MIP level. Be sure that box is NOT checked.

That may not be your problem, but it sure sounds like what I discovered and unchecking that fixed things.

Since you have an Intel mobo, check for updates as well.
