View Full Version : Will a GF 6800 GT or 6800 run on PC with 250W PS?

I had a BFG GF 6800 GT OC in my system, and I thought it was defective because I would get graphical glitches in games like BF 1942 and 3DMark 2001 SE. Other games ran well. The graphical glitches and flashes would be relieved a little if I downclocked the GPU to 350MHz. I would also play Unreal II for about 5 - 10 minutes or so, then the game would lock up and I'd see all kinds of lines across the screen. I'd also hear a loud screeching noise coming from my speakers. I can buy a PNY 6800 GT or 6800 at my local CompUSA, but they charge a 15% restocking fee. Of course, I could buy a 6800 GT, and if it didn't work exchange it for a 6800 and hope it works well. I know this Dell system has a 250W power supply in it. Should I try another 6800 GT or just grab a 6800. Thanks for the help!!!!!!!

Anyone think it's worth trying the 6800GT? Or should I play it safe and save $100 and get the 6800?

It should work just fine I have a gt on a 250 watt psu, works fine even overclocked it to 401 mhz/ 1100 on the ram. Tried to go higher but the psu wasn't enough hehe.
