I just got my MSI 6800 Ultra,

Upon installing the 62xx drivers and coolbits, I saw that it came at a default of 425/1.15.

very happy, very pleased. It was like an Easter egg.

So far I have managed to overclock it stable for 1600x1200 with a frequency of 475/1.2. I'm not going to try tu go any higher on the clock yet. For now, I'm quite pleased with the performance.

Stable defined as no artifacts, lockups or issues in:
far Cry
Painkiller
Doom 3 Alpha
Max Payne 2
Alice
and XIII.

temp is 49c, under a load is 64c

My rig:
Dual Opteron 250
Tyan s2885
8GB ram
4 SATA drives RAID (1 total terabyte)
MSI 6800 Ultra

The card came bundle with a load of games and software.

Price was somewhat of a let down, I spent 530 + shipping.

I would like to hear about your temps. Try running this;

for 10 minutes, while watching your temps at the same time.

Where in the world did you get your hands on a 6800 Ultra from MSI? I kept looking and looking and finally decided to buy another model from another manufacturer when nobody could tell me when it'd be in stock.

Answering questions:

1. The card was gotten from California -but I live in Virginia.
Price watch wasn't helping. I set google to MSI 6800 Ultra shipping visa in-stock... and read more than 100 postings. Called the best hits, found 8 available in the US, and picked the lowest price.

2. I have not run any real benchmarks that would make sense on this forum. I pick benchmarks that use both CPU's and I usually pick OpenGL tests. However I will make time to run Aquamark, N-bench, and Code Creatures. Tests will be conducted at 1600x1200 only. Why bother with any less resolution.

3. For DirectX I installed 9.0c in the hopes Far Cry 1.2 comes out.

4. Ran Doom 3 Alpha loop with rez set to "9" (1600x1200) I average 94fps. This is also running the r_smp "1" setting for dually systems.

5. Tweaks that count:

a. Run Windows 2003 (32 or 64) get NUMA support.
b. Run PAE on the boot ini and get the kernel enhancement.
c. Set FSB between CPUs to 1GHZ
d. Set AGP aperture to 1GB
e. Set the registry HKLM to 2MB of L2 cache so the OS will use it.

Hope this helps.
PS the temps after 4 hour loop of doom 3 alpha was 62C

That doesn't tell us what store you bought yours at. I tried googling that phrase, and it didn't come back with any stores that have it.
