View Full Version : Should I take off the sticker on my 6800?
So I've been reading @ a few places about people having their sticker get stuck in the fan and ruin the card...is this just a fluke thing that happens once in a while, or do the stickers pose as a threat? My old x800 pro has a sticker, never gave me probs, and I never saw people post any probs with it. But I'm wondering if maybe the extra heat gt's and ultra's dispense could be melting off the glue from the back of the sticker and making it fall off and possibly go into the fan? Should I take it off? Will this ruin my rma?

If you're really worrysome, and dont want to lose 400.00 or go through an RMA hassle, it couldn't hurt, but mine hasn't given me any problems. You decide :)
Rip the bastard off, it's not helping you any :scatter:

Yep new GTs aren't shipping with fan stickers it looks like, I know this holds true for eVGA, BFG, and XFX.

cool i was wondering where that damn thing was lol everyday i was lookin around through the case window wondering where it could be lol

yup and it doesnt void the warantee or anything
im slow....i was thinkin this whole time the nalu pic on the card was the sticker...I didnt even notice the little sticker on the fan head itself. lol. That was easy...had I known it was that, I would have done it a while back...now i see how these problems arise.
TAKE IT OFF... too bad it's not a female.
I did. =) Your refering to the small sticker ontop of the fan right?
Hey thanks for putting a really worth while thread up.
BTW it's kinda like the tag on our pillow if you remove it NSA will barge in your door.
I dunno if your sincere or being sarcastic...but i'll take it either way lol. :D
I have never heard of an incident where the sticker came off and got chewed by the fan? But really if you are that unsure take the bugger off.

It already happened to someone muya and another person it got caught in the heatsinks. After reading that I figured better safe than sorry and I removed mine. Not like it voids any warranty or anything.

I took mine off and it was not on there well. I am glad I did, whew I can't imagine the damage it would have done if it would have been sucked into that fan and halted it.

The one on my Ultra was ready to fall off. I removed it, and stuck it on the front of my case (mag)
Really the first time I am hearing of this, Clay, Saturn and rytr haven't reported this problem before with their 6800s yet etc nor did I read any reviews or feedback here. Maybe I missed it. But like i said if u are unsure...remove it...makes sense really
Heres the link to a guy who said his sticker got cought in the fan http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=31757
Like I wrote in the above post, I may have missed it. ;)

Yep EVGA is looking into it. More posts on the EVGA message board see here (http://www.evga.com/community/messageboard/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3666&FORUM_ID=23&CAT_ID=1&Topic_Title=Warning%21%21+Sticker+on+Fan%21%21&Forum_Title=GeForce+6+Family+Forum)
Hmm, from the looks of things people seem to be getting their card messed cuz of one little sticker, when I get mine its goin off, I especially don't want to go through RMA hassle since I am ordering a BFG 6800 GT from thailand and BFG don't have a HQ here so if anything goes wrong I have to ship it all the way and its not even worth it for just 1 little sticker.
Mine is going right off even before it goes into my system.
