Hi guys,

in a German forum someone found out how to enable SM3 with 61.XX drivers (need 61.45 atleast). Just copy the following lines in your nv4_disp.inf:

[nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings]
HKR,, D3D_35173345, %REG_DWORD%, 0x61243847

[nv_ClearRegistrySwitches]
HKR,, D3D_35173345

Then reinstall the drivers and be happy :)

Yeah, it does work. I tried it over the weekend on the 62.11's and the 61.76's.

That explains why it worked for some with certain drivers and other not. It depends on how you update your drivers and which ones were installed on your system. 61.71's had it in there and if you updated from the driver panel instead of running the setup it stayed.

Special, thanks to 991060 for finding the key and to tb77 for "not" confirming it. ;)

How do I check to see if I have 3.0 enabled or not? Im using 61.71's at the moment, but have tried several different drivers and was not ever able to update drivers using the Update drivers option in device manager. Always had to use the setup.exe to get it to install. What program(s) are being used in the screenshot above to see?

The tool is called D3D Rightmark. You can download it here (http://3d.rightmark.org/download.shtml). To see, which shaders are available click on "direct 3D 9 information" and then "hardware shaders"!

And what happens if this is attempted without a 6800 card?

First of all...Without DirectX 9.0c, no SM3. Without NV40, no SM3!

Yeah, knew that about DX9.0c and kinda figured that about the nv40 cards. Thanks. I did it anyways. LOL

How did kahloq got Rightmark to detect SM3.0 on the previous page without dx9.0c?

Impossible, that can't work in any way. Maybe he didn't look it up right and changed ps3 with ps2...Don't know

Nope just did exactly what you said and it showed the exact same screen as your first screenie and I dont have dx9.0c installed using 9.0b still

Did you try running any of the tests with it set at Ps3.0???

It would be interesting to see if they run. You would think that they won't.

I'm completely confused right now. Maybe Rightmark is kinda wrong, but all SM3 features are defenitely DX 9.0c only. I'm 100% sure. Let's wait for Shadermark 2.1, then we'll see whether I'm or Rightmark is stupid... :o
