Well, farcry has very slow action!

The thing that Painkiller has going for it is that every other game these days is going for a strategy type element. Painkiller has gone back to the old run 'n' reap style of Doom 1 and 2.

far cry is eye candy to me. I hate the stealthy feel of it. I love the run in a room and blast any and everything gameplay of painkiller. Not that I think every shooter should be mindless, but it's a nice break and quite nostalgic when compared to today's games, which try to do too much sometimes.

For the gameplay i prefer Painkiller .. it has the higher fun factor & much replayability value . also the physics (Havok) in Painkiller is used more than FarCry itself ... thats indeed impressed me .

the graphics in FarCry are superb of course , but when we take in consider that all Painkiller graphics is based in DX8.0 engine ..i think DreamCatcher has done a very well job as CryTek did .

I prefer far cry for the sole reason that you need to employ a form of strategy (well ok.. the first time you play it) to win...

due to the open nature of the outdoor maps you can use multiple means to complete the mission... multiple tools and multiple strategies...

the indoor maps are pretty much linear in nature and I don't like that too much..

I miss the Deus Ex way of doing things :(

painkiller has been very linear and repetitive unfortunately... though it is surprisingly good looking... compared to a Will Rock kinda game that is lol...

anyways.. my vote goes to far cry..

I find them both great, just completely different.

Painkiller is about mindless slaughter and Farcry is about combat with an element of tactics and stealth required.

I give the edge to Farcry. Painkiller is sometimes repetitive and never made me say 'holy **** this is just awesome".

It all depends on how much time to pay i have; if I've only a little, I'll go for Painkiller, if I've a few hours then it's Far Cry.

imo they're both class

Painkiller is sometimes repetitive and never made me say 'holy **** this is just awesome".The very first thing that Painkiller made me say was "holy **** look at the graphics! *This* is how games are meant to look and run". This was when I first got my 5900XT.

Farcry just made me think "why's this game run so slow?".

I think both are near the same quality...

Graphically far cry has more bells and whistles that make you say wow, but then again, painkiller has some levels with some insane poly counts...painkiller doesn't seem to use a lot of shaders and other fancy effects like far cry

As far as story and originality, both aren't that original. Far cry basically shares the same story as half life, doom, quake 1 and 2, etc...painkiller doesn't really have a story haha

Far cry has much better AI...painkiller has better action...far cry has vehicles...painkiller has tons of unique environments....far cry has better music but cheesy (lame) voice acting....painkiller has wicked physics...multiplayer in both is just so-so

they're both a lot of fun if you ask me

Good point, i have to say FarCrys mutliplayer is

1) Unplayable
2) Completely LAME

Painkillers mutliplayer is just very very laggy and hard to play. SO it was pritty lame also.

From a single player standpoint it really depends on what you like from a game. Do you like methodically hunting enemies and thinking of new ways to complete missions? If so, Fary Cry is your game. Do you like diving head first into games and blowing the **** out of everyone and everything? Then you want Painkiller. They both look great and sound great, so it really does boil down to gameplay.

Oh yeah, Far Cry's MP does suck. If you want MP carnage go with Painkiller.
