Im full of :spam2: threads tonight, I apologize. My question is, do the 6800 gt fans suck air in or is it dispensing air out. Cuz I have a pci slot fan underneat it, and I got to thinking...if its trying to suck air in....my pci slot fan is taking all the air away...if its dispensing air, then the pci slot fan is doing its job....just wondering, as if its sucking air in, im probably 5c warmer than I could be.

The fan to the best of my knowledge blows air in, so the air hits the GPU and cools it down. No air for it to be blowing away I don't think, would be getting warmer. Best to have the PCI fan blowing at it, that way it can cool down the heat sink, since there will be heat on that

my pci fan only sucks air away from the gpu and pushes out the back of my case...so I guess it's not really helping. I think tomorrow i'll turn it off and see what the temps look like.

Ok, so I removed the pci slot fan and my card is now 3-5C cooler! Anyone who is using a pci slot fan that sucks air off the card and blows it out the back of the pc might want to take it out. It's just sucking away air the gt needs to suck in to keep the gpu cool.

Im curious, a lot of people say they have PCI slot fans "blowing directly onto their card" where do people find these blowing slot fans? Any that I have seen are for exhaust only, Ive owned 2, both exhaust.

I tried having a fan blowing directly on my GT and then tried a slot fan exhausting air beside it. Neither seemed to have any effect. I know another guy in the forum said he had to remove the plate before he saw any difference but I haven't gotten around to that yet.

Same here, I bought this one @ best buy, and it's exhaust only. Wish I could find one that blew in toward the card, im sure it would help lower the tempa another 1-3C.

My card used to idle @ 55C after a half hour of surfing the net, i've been surfing the net for about an hour now, and it's currently @ 51C ....I'm satisfied. =)

They may be talking about a slot-fan like this one:

I'm using an Antec AMG660 midtower case. It's pretty cool, as it has a fan mounted on the side panel right across from the video card that blows fresh air from outside the case right on the card.
