Except for the MSi 6800 ultra sticker on the fan shrod it looks like an Nvidia reference 6800 ultra.

Save one pleasant difference:

came OC at 425/1.15 out of the box.

Stable in ALL situations and no aberrations so far up to 475/1.2 runnig everything at 1600x1200.

Not yet willing to go any higher.

temps are 47-49 idle, and 63-64 load.

I did apply silver compound (carefully) to cpu and ram -just in case.

I also silver-compounded (carefully) the heatsink near the power plugs.
That really gets hot now - like it should..

Came bundled with XIII, prince of persia, URU etc etc ans a slew of utilities alla MSI

Quite impressed with it so far.

Nice packaging.

Price was alittle high: $530 plus shipping.

That help?

No, because you never told us where you bought it so we can try to buy one.

i have a msi 400/1100..... the bios of the pny isnt the same but can you send me a copy of the bios by mail??? thx
==> JUST 6800ULTRA Chipset

to save the bios

Dl that : http://site.voila.fr/HQFPS/nvflash442.exe (Nv Flash 442)

Create the directory on c:\
put the nvflash442.exe inside the new directory

In Dos : write : nvflash442 -b original.rom
(this command make a copy of your bios VGA card)

Venturi: Im seriously thinking of buying a 6800U from MSI as well. I would like to know one thing though.
I have seen a test of these new-generation videocards' noiselevel, and X800 Pro was by far the most silent. Now comes my point: In the test, the MSI 6800 Ultra was the most quiet 6800 Ultra card! How would you describe the noiselevel of your videocard, and how noisy is the rest of your rig?

SH64: What is the reason that you want MSI over some other brands?

i believe it will be no different than the other brands since its the refernece design , not the MSI own cooled design .

Actually i'm not taking it over any other brands , but because its the only brand that will be available where i live .
however i had a lot of expericance with MSI video cards since my GF4 Ti4600 & so on .. they are stable , solid & thier bundle isnt bad . so i stuck with them !

The MSi 6800 ultra I have has the monicher of "td256" with stock heatsink.

In a few months you bshould be able to buy, somewhere, the "td266" with the MSI copper heatsink design.

The review I saw for the card had it clocked at 400/1100, however this card was set at 425/1.15. It clocks well stable to at least 475/1200.

I would like to help you, how to I export the vga bios?

@venturi

In a few month?That late?Uffffzzz

How loud is your card....is it louer then geforce 3,4,5? I havenĀ“t heard ANY ultra so far but i have read several tests which say that the MSI NX6800Ultra most quit ultra of all available at the moment.Yeah,i know the cooling system has the same design as the nividia,but the tests say that ?!?!

Whats your opinion on the loudness of the MSI NX6800Ultra ?!?

regards

I think the loudness/quietness of the msi is a bad thing, I mean the quieter it is the less overclocking your gonna be able to do which also means the hotter ur card will run at stock. They shouldn't care abot noise and make it as cool as poosible with a fan. I mean we will be playing games anyway and shouldnt here it.
