View Full Version : 6800 GT Problems
Recently I purchased a eVGA 6800 GT from Newegg. I installed the card properly hooked up all right but when I try to install drivers (61.72 from eVGA) for it it does it then says the data is invalid. Why doesnt it work? I put my old video card in and it boots up perfectly. Is my video card dead? I hear the monitor finds a signal when it plugs in and the fan on it works.
I have all the updates for microsoft windows
Abit NF-7 ver 2.00 Nforce 2 chipset version 4.27
Paired with XP-M 2500+ 13.5 x 166 @ 2.25GHZ
1GB Kingston Hyper X PC 2700 2Dimms
Not dead since you can see the desktop with it. If it were me, I'd load the nVidia drivers from the internet instead of those on the CD. The CD "could" be corrupt or have corrupt drivers. DL the 61.71 or 61.76 drivers and try to load those and see what happens.

Try it from a different website like say guru3d
If you did any sort of removal process (driver cleaner, manual delete, etc.) to get rid of the old drivers make sure you didn't remove too much and get rid of the AGP Gart driver. If other drivers still won't install, try reinstalling the nforce drivers again, maybe even direct X 9.0b (or c) again and then try installing the drivers.
I tried loading the 61.76 drivers and after it loads downloaded from mrrolf's link above and it installs I restart then it doesn't boot up windows it says there is some hardware profile issue that it undoes something to back to what it was before the driver is installed. I have tried to contact eVGA but tech support is sleeping or something i sat on the phone for almost a half hour on hold ugh!!!!. So much for support!!!
If i put my old ti4400 back in though it works perfectly fine like i never even took it out. Do I need to clean out my old Forceware 56 driver??? I think I am going to RMA pretty soon if I can't figure something out here.

Considering the 56 series doesn't support the 6800, you need to remove them completely from your system.

Boot into safe mode, uninstall video drivers. Run Driver Cleaner to remove any remnants. Boot into safe mode again, install new drivers, reboot.
Problem solved :)
Explain your self please same problem but it works fine how did you fix it?
to Warden; Where can i get driver cleaner???

Just do a search on Goodle for Driver Cleaner but I am 99% sure it is available at Driver Heaven as well.
I did exactly what you said warden and it still wouldnt post with that driver. Still get the same Hardware Profile issure that does not let me startup my operating system. I am beginning to lose hope and getting desperate. I RMA'ed it back to newegg today hope fully a new one solves this problem. My old Ti4400 works just fine though so I don't think it can be anything else in my system.
