If a hard drive coughs and skips in the middle of a benchmark, does the program register it as a framerate dip?

I get good scores, but I think they could be higher if this wasn't the case...

this also happens in unreal 2k3, GTA3, Army Ops, and a couple other games... I know why (5400rpm, 512k cache-poop), and I know what I need, but I'd like to know if HD speed has a direct effect on benchmark scores...

It's the cache size on this stoopid HD (512k vs. 2mb)that's getting me... This also seems to affect performance on my playstation emulator...

I've never even seen another ATA-100 hard drive with a cache that small...
