Silly question, but....

Without the 1.1 patch, is Far Cry supposed to have bright discolored textures when using high/high-level lighting? I get this when I install Far Cry without installing the patch. Installing the patch fixes this...but I just want to make sure....

I just got this $300 card and I just want to be 100% sure that this is not a problem with my card, but rather Far Cry itself.

:D

Patch 1.1 fixes all that. Unfortunately, the framerate is much better in the glitchy version :)

Its a problem with Far Cry before patch 1.1 it was detecting the card as a dx7 card since at the time of release of the 1.0 the 6800 wasn't around.

get the 1.1 patch.. and get the "fix" to force it to run in the R300 pathway (Shader 2.0)

looks much better, and no loss in frames!

EDIT: sounds like the 1.2 patch is out! goto the game forum.. 65 megs though

This bug is still around on both NV cards, and the Radeon series with the 1.1 patch. Tress, and plants turn shades of yellow, orange or red.

In fact I think it's mentioned on a review on this site, or by ChrisRay possibly.

edit: never mind sounds like a different bug. :)
