I currently have 2.53Ghz P4 533 FSB, 9700 Pro and 512MB DDR333. I want to upgrade for Doom 3 to a Geforce 6800 ultra. If i get the card and another 512MB of ram but leave the same cpu will it result to serious bottleneck not only for Doom 3 but for every other game as well?

I think that you should be fine, everyones cpu is a bottleneck with a 6800 ultra at the moment even the fx-53. I am gonna get a 6800 ultra and not bother with a cpu until next year when intel release a proper chip (dualcore,pentium5). It is up to you though. What ever upgrade you do now you will still not get the best performance out of your 6800 ultra.

Thanks. U see i could upgrade the cpu as well but since the chipset of the mb is 845 it won't support p4s with 800fsd. So if i do that i am gonna need new mb and new ram as well.ouch :)

yeh, if i was you i would do what i am doing. get a 6800 ultra now to spice games up and next year when sufficient powerful processors come out that make it so the 6800 ultra is hitting its peak and not cpu limited then you get mobo ram and cpu but until then your only buying for 3dmarks. Period :)
