I have tried and tried to enable the new SM3.0 option in the new 61.76 WHQL drivers but can not get this to work. I've edited the INF per instructions. They never get enabled. I've reinstalled, cleaned out, reinstalled and installed the 61.71 as stated installed over these drivers but this option never gets enabled. Can somebody tell me what I am doing wrong. Some say to place these edits at the end of the file. Does this mean at the end of the INF file or at the end of the section of the INF that they are supposed to be in? I've put these edits in both places it just won't enable them. Do you have to have DX9.0c installed for tuis to work. : (newb)

Well, I checked the 62.20 INF file and theres no SM3.0 path already there, like the one used to mod it. But , I modded it just how the thing said and Now I have PS and VS 3.0.

I should of said does DX9.0c have to be installed for these to show up as enabled in D3D RightMark. :lame:

So what your saying is that DX9.0c has to be installed for this to be enabled in the Nvidia drivers and show up in D3D RightMark. Thats to bad if so I'll just wait for XP2 to come out and install the new Nvidia drivers when they come out. Thanks for your reply.

Why would you wait, it's easy. Only benefit NOW is that you must have Farcry to enjoy any of this SM3.0 goodness. Mmmm

Part of the reason to wait for me is that I've already had a bad experience with a DirectX beta install. Back in the early days of DX 9. The only good thing was that I didn't have to do a complete OS install. So it makes me nervous when I see beta at the end of MS Direct :) X.

I'm waiting too. Farcry runs great here at 1280 x 1024 4xAA 4x AF so why should I bother? Now if it added new eye candy then maybe...

Yeah if you want eye candy then wait for 1.3 (hopefully then we'll see HDR, displacement mapping, etc). 1.2 does fix the old shader issues such as the famous archive floor not rendering properly

I was so dissapointed that HDR and displacement mapping wasn't in the 1.2 patch. Yeah I'd have to overclock the hell out my 5900NU, but I'm sure it would would run it lol. ;) I think HDR or similar effects are rendered in the nVidia Clear Sailing demo, which believe it or not runs fine on my PC.
