when asked about Quadro vs. FireGL
Somebody said this:
"nvidia gpu seems to be 2x times faster on simple shading modelling. and ati gpu seems to be serveral times faster on modelling with textures applied in DCC applications, or somthing like that."
how you guys think? (mag)

Who said that? :)
There needs to be a distinction made between 5xxx-based Quadro cards and 6xxx-based Quadro cards. The new 6xxx architecture is obviously superior in some respects. And for ATI, distinction needs to be made between R3xx-based FireGL cards, and R4xx-based FireGL cards.
And of course, relative performance differences will be based to a large degree on exactly what type of software is being used.
:( damn u.... I almost thought I had the latest and the greatest, and u rained over my parade :D hehe j/k, I am pretty sure they are right, with the last gen. of firegl/quadro... FX line did suck ass big time, no offense ;)

The Quadro naming scheme is a bit confusing, because they are still called the Quadro FX cards.
The Quadro FX 4000 is actually a derivative of the 6800 series architecture. FP16 blending, RGMS AA, etc. See here:
