OC ForceWare 61.76 drops performance (HELP)

I have an Asus 5900 Ultra and i just installed the 61.76 drivers.
When overclocking the card (using the Coolbits registry) i get a BIG drop in performance. This is most noticable in PainKiller using 4x multi-sampling.

Any ideas???

the card isn't handling the overclock and is throttling back?

I don't think so. i could overclock easily with previous forceware (56.72).
The problem occurs even without doing any actual overcloking, it is enough that i set the value to manul overclocking without touching the GPU/Memory sliders!!!!

can someone else with a FX5900 verify it?

The 61.76 driver set was actually underclocking my card (FX5800U) ... setting it to manual overclock, my GPU/memory clocks were 400/800 (instead of 500/1000) ... it resulted in a sizeable drop in my overall performance.
