Hi,

This forum is the thirs forum that I am sending this question, and pretty much my last cahce of getting an answer. I hope, someone knows the answer.

My question is, what is the maximum memory that 6800 series cards support?

I am asking this to see whether nVidia may be able to release cards with
more than 256 Mb memory in the near future.

Thanks for the answer.

Some companies are launching 256MB versions of the standard 6800 AFAIK.
Now, I do not know exactly which ones will do it. I think Chaintech are rumpured to be doing one...and one obscure company from around here, SE asia

yup, I read the question wrong. More than 256MB?? well the economics of the situation will determine that. To get enough of premium gddr3 memory modules to slap on 512mb a graphics card will be hard and very costly.

I do know creative's 3d Labs Wild Pro Card will have 512MB :D

You know it will be available because doom 3 will require 512 for ultra mode.

Sorry to burst your bubble ssj4goku887, but it has already been stated by I believe PCGamer in their review that you MUST have a 512 MB card to use Ultra High mode. Oh well, High mode is perfect, and maybe we could mod it a little to let us use Ultra High?

You're ****ting me. :retard:

So we've been running fine with 128MB video RAM then all of a sudden 512MB is REQUIRED?

This is an unusual jump in system requirements..

That's true, but remember when was the last time you saw saw several AAA titles comming out at the same time? Game play issues aside, DooM 3 and Half Life 2 release will probably be analogous to Christmas 1999 when Quake III and Unreal Tournament hit the shelves. Suddenly everyone's system seemed a generation too slow. :D
