IRC is great for that just browsing through mp3's or whatnot.
One thing I really like doing in winmx is looking through a users shared files when your downloading from them. You can find all sorts of interesting stuff.

I installed the latest version of WinMX the other day, and all bugs have been fixed. I love it, as I can now find MP3s encoded at 320.
IMO Edonkey BLOWS for movies...
WinMX lets ya see the portion you've DLed so far....edonkey doesn't....
Kinda important to know if your DL the right 200MB Asian Lolita flick on a modem..:D :D :D
I *love* giraffes. I feel very close to them ;) :D
winmx is ok
i cant find .wav files though.
I want some of the older rammstien songs in high quality wav formats to chuck on the cd and listen but i cant get them.
i have right now about 2 winmx servers going, since i am hooked to a t3. It is great for getting those "special" files and rpms.
Has any1 tried Audio galaxy?? I heard its good for mp3 I might check it out if they have rammstein wav files. Or is there a program for convertin mp3 to wav (reasonable quality)
Oh lately some ppl on winmx are using cloneHASH so becarefull especially when u are d/loading 500mb+ files.(or anyother such files)

what exactly is wrong with Joint Stereo? if you could point me to a website that debunks its flaws it would be greatly appreciated.

why? I tried it out yesterday and hardly was able to hook up to any files at all.
I only used Winmx once, and I had to wait like 30 minutes to grab 1 file. I was queued 10th on the list I think.

real time chatting and a great place for information...
of all sorts ;)
if i never got into irc, i probably would never have found out about 3dgpu.com which had a link to nvnews.net. and ive been here ever since... :)
in fact ever since i clicked on nvnews.net link from 3dgpu.com and read a few lines (the title bar which said something like ...a great place for nVidia news...), i made it my homepage back in november/december 2000. i didnt join the forums until early jan 2001 because i was still hooked on irc.
now i just real time chat every once in a while but i will definitely not forget irc
u can learn a lot of things at irc... ;)
if not for irc, i would have never gotten into linux or unix based systems.
if not for irc, i would never have bought the music cd's i have in my collection now
if not for irc, i would never have bought the pc games that i am glad to own.
if not for irc, i would never have found out so much about 3d and digital video: it's industries, it's hardware, it's softwares, and especially it's awesome online community filled to overflowing with creativity and imagination and innovation
if not for irc, i would have had a hard time repairing, updating, and configuring my pc on my own instead of having to depend on others or worse yet pay others for resolving simple and not-so-simple or some complex pc problems.
and i could go on and on...
well if not for irc, i probably would have eventually found out about nvnews.net and everything else i mentioned above and then some but im sure i wouldnt have since i know my interests would have changed by then
AMEN!!!!!!!!!
