I have a Inspiron 8200 with geforce 4 440 go card. The problem is when apm is enabled and tries to blank the monitor it crashes X hard when on battery power, when plugged in to AC it works fine. This is the same on Redhat 8.0 and 7.3. I have the drivers installed correctly and they work flawlessly except for this. Suspend to ram works everytime after I hacked the driver with the 2 line patch. I have tried to disable blanking the monitor in apmd and in XF86Config but it still tries to balank monitor and crash X. You guys have any ideas.

Thanks,
Peace

Switch to textconsole (text mode) while you aren't actively working in X,
and try to disable the display APM in your BIOS. It's not just a good solution, but
'APM and nvidia drivers' IS a problem as yet.
