So I've decided to get serious about understanding video cards, and optimizations and tweaks thereto. In canvassing the various sites and reviews I've seen a number of tweaks and utilities mentioned (incl. those on our host's homepage).

Would someone mind providing a brief run-down of the most popular/useful utilities for this newbie. If this is well-covered ground and someone could provide a link to such an overview or prior thread, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Coolbits is only really useful for overclocking. If you want to get down into the nitty gritty aspects of tweaking DirectX and OpenGL, download RivaTuner (http://www.guru3d.com/rivatuner). It's akin to Rage3D Tweak but geared towards NVIDIA cards.
