i don't know if anyone has followed the ChampionsWorld's soccer tour of North America, but i'm looking forward for tomorrow, when i, and a group of friends, will be at the Skydome (Toronto) to see Celtic v AS Roma. i can't wait: i'm a big fan of football (mainly of the Premiership and the Bundesligia) but how could i miss seeing a team like Celtic play? this will be the first time i've seen European teams play live, and it should be a helluva time, with 50,000+ people at the game. :D

the Dome, an artificial turf stadium, will have real grass installed. that will be interesting to see.

Maybe BigC is a Scot with an affiliation for Celtic?nope, not a Scot, just a fan of the beautiful game. couldn't pass on the opportunity to see a game involving on of the most storied franchises in the game.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Whatever the guys say, watching top class teams like Celtic and Roma is always exciting. Wouldn't say that Celtic are the most exciting team to watch but they get results and Roma are a very skilful side. Hopefully you wont be robbed and they'll not just host a complete b-side. If you pay the money to see them then they should at least put out a side worth watching.

Man Utd had a horrible time over there. They were booed off the field after the first match in Chicago (because they put out a crappy side of reserve players with no big names in it) and lost them all some way or another (penalties).

@Mesce: I see you're from Manchester too. Are you City or Utd? or neither....

wow, what a wonderful day.

we went downtown to a bar on Front completely packed with Celtic supporters. had several drinks. and then a few more (it was very hot and humid ;)). then, we walked down to the Dome (well, paraded really). there must have been several 1000 Celtic fans, singing, chanting ... it was really lively. apparently, the Celtic bar (their fan club based in Scarborough) sent 6 bus-loads full of supporters to the game, and they were clearly heard.

the party continued in the stadium. whilst it ended 1-0 for Roma, the fans of either side were not disappointed, as there were several great scoring chances for both sides, impressive saves, and near misses. plus, 50,000 people really added to the atmosphere. we were surrounded by Roma fans (some really well-endowed females ;)) but everyone was great, lots of cheering.

unlike the Man U game, the stars stayed in for most, if not all, of the game. the Toti-chicks were pleased with that.

Neither team made any halftime substitutions, but O'Neill made three changes in the 62nd minute, replacing Sutton with up-and-coming striker Craig Beattie, who had scored four goals in Celtic's first three games on the tour.
