When the computer is booting up, the fan spins at full speed, and once windows loads, it slows down. I know this is normal, but when I start 3dmark03, the fan STAYS at the same slow speed. Isn't it supposed to spin up again?

Mine never spins up, it is always the same speed. Maybe because I am usually blowing 10c or colder over the video card. I didn't even know it had two speeds ;).

What?? Why not?? It does that on FX5900 series, and it makes perfect sense...

Argh, this sucks, the screws on the Alpha6035 are too big to fit through the holes. Then I stuck an 80mm fan onto the stock heatsink and it's idling at 70C right now instead of 60C. Are there ANY better ways to cool this monster? :(

Ease up man, you are fine. The GTs seem to run a bit warmer than the Ultras (I idle at 47~50C depending on room temp and under load in upper 50s to low 60s...I also replace my stock cooling thermal pads on memory with Ceramique as well as the core).

garikfox is right, until you get in the 95C or higher you are fine.

hehe, I idle around 34-36c ;). Ahmm that is before my 1.4v bios mod, don't know now at least yet where she will hang out at. Low 50's at full load as well. A/C is the way to go or water cooling if you really want to keep these chips cool as in below 70c. Come to think about it I have an old 6035 hsf as well with a Delta fan that is just plain aweful in noise and vibration. No thanks.

Plz link me to the BIOS mods.

Thanks

Stock BIOS, I pulled the HS off mine, lapped it and the RAM HS, applied AS5, dropped mine down to 51C idle, max 64C under a heavy load clocked at 435/1130. I'm happy anyway...:)
