Anyone here have a 6800 non-Ultra?

I got an XFX one, stock clocks 325/750. It's pretty fast, but, obviously, I'll never be happy with a card I can't overclock.

YET.....I *can't*!!! Doing the 'detect optimal frequencies' immediately returns with the stock clocks. Attempting a manual overclock - even by 1mhz - will cause a hard lock in any 3d util seconds after starting.

It's not heat related, the card idles at 66C, and doesn't get even a degree higher before it locks the system as a result of overclocking (by comparison, when running stress testing on it at stock clocks, it gets up to 70C).

Needless to say, it's 100% stable at the stock clocks, too, for hours on end.

So....seems like all the classic symptoms of bios-based overclock protection.

Thoughts?

Hmm With memory Overclocks or Core overclocks? Mine defaults too 325/700 but OCs to 380/900 stable. Mine is an Nvidia reference sample. You might try the bios I gave mavke.

It can be found over at mvktech.net Buit the memory clocks will default at 700.

Hmmm sounds wierd, migh tbe right about the bios. I know I have an evga 6800nu and I know it's rock stable at 400 core and 831 mem. If your brave you may try flashing the bios, might help.

Mine's stable and cool at 400/850, but won't go any higher. This OC got me a 1400 point 3DMark increase - not too shabby at all.
