Seeing as several of you lucky peeps have the game already, let's hear it :)

I just bought DOOM3 at BestBuy!
I called ahead and asked if they had it and was told
that indeed they did but not on display... "it was in back".
I asked if I could come by and pick up a copy and was told "sure".

Got there and asked the guy by software for DOOM3, he said hold on
while he asked a manager, He was given the ok to sell it to me.
:nana:

I have been playing for about an hour & it is amazing! Really well done from
what I've seen so far. I'm playing with High Quality, 1024@768. Looks & runs
very good. I actually jumped a few times like a wuss, and thats only from
the zombies & Imps. :)

One thing thats really good (other than the graphics) are the sounds.
The sounds are very sharp and booming. The reload sounds to the blast
from the shotgun really stands out, Very impressive. The atmosphere
is very well done in the begining where you just report for duty and talk
with some of the people on the base. I am really excited and can't wait
to dive in and play tonight.

My computer:
Pentium 4 3.0c
1Gig of RAM
ATI 9800pro (3.10 drivers)
SBLive Sound Card
2 Speaker Setup

[ My DOOM 3 Pics. (http://trinitystar.home.comcast.net/misc/DOOM/images.html) ]

Here are some DOOM3 Pics I took which takes place before all the demons
come out to play. :)

Some things that stands out while playing:

While wandering around the base I was called a "newbie" by some of the
marines, that made me smile.

I ran into a John Carmack look alike that wanted to tell me something..
He then decided not to and told me to ignore him. I was thinking of
beating it out of him but decided its theCarmack and let him off the hook. :angel2:

When shooting zombies they usually drop & their body just lay there.. but a
bullet to the head makes them disintegrate. A well placed shotgun blast
to the face of a charging zombie/demon will give the same effect. You
can even see their skull & bones when they burn up, very cool.

I can't begin tell you how many times I have jumped playing this game..
and I havent even met up with the BIG demons yet. I ran into pinky &
he is alot bigger than he is in that leaked alpha that I didnt download. :angel2:

I'll take some pics of the multiplayer maps later on.. I havent even loaded
them up yet. :)

Something for someone to look into, just out of curiosity mostly:
In the game can you see your legs, and do you cast a shadow like everything else?

Thanks :D

Remember the org resident evil, and the dog that jumped out the window? Its like that. Sounds are prefect with it.

.................................................. ...........[ DOOM3 Multiplayer Pics. (http://trinitystar.home.comcast.net/misc/DOOM3/images.html) ].................................................. ..........

Just took some multiplayer map pics.

The Edge is not actually a remake but a sequel.. Its
called the Edge 2 and borrows some design elements
but is quite diffrent from the Quake2 map.

You cannot see your legs in DOOM3.. As for shadows.. I didnt notice
any in the single player but you can cast a shadow in Multiplayer.

DOOM III :wonder:

I wrote a little review on how I think the game is...

"If I could close off any links to the world, lose contact with friends, family and my girlfriend, I truley would. If I could make night, 24 hours a day, to sacrifice all the childrens play time outside during the day, I would have to say yes. Doom III has lived up to all the hype that people have been biting their nails for, for over four years, and yes I can say it goes above and beyond what everyone has been dreaming about for the past four years. Graphics, sound, textures, scenes, gameplay, all these mixed together with John Carmacks coding guru skills and everyone at the iD team is what makes this game. Walking down a hall, with your flashlight equiped, looking at the ceiling, looking at the floor, looking at every detail you can see to your left and right. Dust particles on your flashlight, swirling around in front of you, making the experience that much more exciting, you reach half of the hall, and hear faintly behind you, "Save...me..." This is the point when you would pause the game and run outside for a breath of air, wondering if you should come back to your game. All I can say is, even at the bottle neck of settings, you are in for luck. If you are fortunate, and have all the good things for this game, you can still enjoy the game as the people who can't afford the goodie hardware for their PC, but ahem...even better. Surround sound is a must for this game, decent graphics card, good processor, and enough memory to make this game a enjoyable playing experience. Your set..."

I give it a 100%, I have found no flaws so far, I am incredibly impressed.

I've played now for a good few hours, the atmosphere, and tension, the constant sound of all hell breaking loose is absolutely phenomenal.

I'm playing this game at Ultra detail level, at 1280x1024, at 2xAA. It is, by far, the most stunning game, i've EVER seen, in my entire life.

it looks to be running 30-40fps.. slight lag when entering new areas. but barely noticable. And thats on a 128mb card! I wonder if its not allowing some features or something...

Yes, in comparision to farcry, it does look better. But i still havent seen enough... i want to see it at home to compare. It really does look close to a cg movie. Farcry is alot more colorful, and has better water effects and stuff. But the indoor areas in doom3 is amazing. Also i got a slight glimpse of an outdoor area.. breathtaking, the dust in the air... wow

I am hoping to get my mitts on it tomorrow... :D but sounds like it should be playable on my setup @ 10x7 or 12x10 depending on settings...

I will probably go with 1600x1200 with max everything when I get it... then start taking unneeded things down until I get it playable :).

I just reached the part where Pinky comes out for the first time..
That was so crazy! Pinky gets his own short movie intro & then
he goes on a rampage that I'm sure you guys will love. :retard: :)

I don't want to spoil some of the more scary parts but the bathroom
scene (it doesnt involve pinky) made my heart skip a beat! :)

I'm having alot of fun so far just creeping around the base collecting
information. Playing in the dark is so much fun, I'm constantly looking
over my shoulders from all the creepy ambient sounds in the game.
I just can't wait until that Hell Knight shows his ugly face! :rw: :)

Here are some screenshots I just took of the first few minutes of the game. These are at 800x600 on the "High Quality" mode. I seem to notice some tearing, going to look into this more. Has anyone else noticed tearing as well?
