I wish I had one in my system but am running a radeon 8500 right now!

Might order one soon though!

The ati IQ is wonderful compared to Nvidia even with digital vibrance!

Welcome to the world of ATi! :) I felt the same way after i ditched my Ti4600 for a 9700. Simply the best card I've had the pleasure of owning. Lush colors, fantastic 2D/3D quality and blazing fast with beautiful AA/Ansio.

I recently ditched my Ti4200 for a 9700 Pro, and all I can say is wow. The 2D clarity blows nVidia away, and the aniso/AA performance is awesome.

I just picked up an XP2400+ to complete the package.....hehe. UT2K3 now ph34rs me!! :D

Enjoy your card DBY!!:)
I'll be waiting to see that happens with nv30 this year and if it's slower or doesn't come this year I'm going for the non pro radeon 9700.

While I can't dispute that the image quality and colors are better as well as performance I can say this: it still slows UT2003 down to much if I turn 4x FSAA on while running @ 1600x1200. You don't need it that bad when you run that resolution but it still would be nice to have. It just kills the frame rate a little to much for my tastes... Probably still playable but noticeably slower.

I don't think you'll see a card with the ability to run UT 2003 with 4X AA at 1600x1200 (pretty redundant thing to do anyway) until the next refresh (R350/NV35). For now 1280x1024 with 4x AA/8x performance aniso works great or if 1024x768 is preferred then 4xAA/16x performance aniso works very well. Speaking of AA and Aniso, imagine trying to run UT 2003 on a Ti4600 with those settings :)

Actually, I have tried running Face3-CTF on a ti4600 w/AF and 4x AA... Even @ 1024x768 it was a dog. Had to turn off a. filtering and just left the AA on. Works well enough now... That's running in a Dell 4500 P4 2.4 right now.

My P4 2.53 has the radeon 9700 and it rox...

Yep I used to have a leadtek ti4600 before I bought this 9700 pro. UT 2003 and BF1942 were the deciding factors for me since both of them didn't run at acceptable speeds for me at 1024x768 with anistropic filtering enabled. Now I run both of the aforementioned games at 1280x1024(960) with 4x AA and 8X aniso :)

I'm running a radeon from 2 years ago still a 64 aka 7200. Sadly I'm going in the opposite direction and getting a Ti4200 since ATI still doesn't nderstand there are linux gamers in the world. It's a sad sad day. :(

Ive just upgraded my whole system, now have an ASUS P4T533 R with 512mb of Samsung 4200 DIMMS, unfortunatley, gonna have to get a new processor as my 2.4 is only a 400FSB, so im not making full use of the memory's capabilities. However, still get 15k on 3dmark2001se which im sure will rise when i get my 2.8 or 3.06 P4  Which i hope to overclock considerably

P4 2.4 @ 2.766
ASUS P4T533 850i chipset
512mb Samsung PC 4200 RIMMS
Gigabyte Radeon Pro 9700
Creative Soundblaster Live! 5.1 Digital
Creative 5100 Speakers 5.1
Win Xp Pro

Now that ATi has released linux drivers *shock* I may stick with them rather than trying an NV30, just gonna wait to see what the competition looks like though.

Just picked up a 2.8 which is running comfortably at 3.1 @ 1.525 v core, makes the R 9700 pro sing, can achieve over 17k 3dmarks!!
All games run flawlesly at 1600 x 1200, all with AA and AS on!!!
Nice work ATI, just hope you have V Sync option on your next drivers!!!

Already here!

It is 100% in the DX9 Drivers. Mixed reports about the latest Catalyst.

You need to set a registry key however, as it's not official.

Search for VSyncSlider

Set it to 01 00 00 00

Really??

Tried the latest Cat drivers, but it turned my screen into a multicoloured maze when comp rebooted, also found the DX9 to be quite unstable when used with those particular driver.
Presume that these CATs can be used with DX8????

What is the performance like compared to say the 6193's????

If you do an install of DX9 RC0 and the DX9RC0 Radeon drivers you shouldn't have any problems. The vsync switch also works very very well. Sadly I've done a system restore back to DX8 as I need the Direct X 8 SDK to do my work, but I'm going to get a dual boot system running if the next DX8 drivers don't have Vsync. I've been told they will however. So here's hoping! :)

cool, i'll try it again tonight!!!
One thing i have noticed about this card, it doesnt overclock too well especially the memory, only gaining an extra 20mhz, but can obtain GPU speed of 380 stable. Maybe i'll invest in some ramsinks!!

Anyone else had a similar o'c problem???

They just released a unified linux driver set for 8000/9000 series cards. Don't know how good they are, but it's worth checking out probably :p

What rock have you been living under? It's gaining more and more momentum every day. If the market wasn't there, neither NVIDIA nor ATI would bother to make drivers, would they?
