THis review makes me wanna buy Radeon XT PE coz every benchmark(high resolution) RAdeon wins.....It ism either F..ing BS or i dont undertand something..I think review is fake....
Y didnt they run it in ultra mode?
Also when u set up AA in control panel and AA in ingame menu does it mean that u have double aa?

Thats exactly what I thought when I started reading it earlier. Bunch of crap that review is. Yeah lets see, put the lowest end Nvidia 6800 NU up against the TOP of the line xt-pe and call that a fair review. Yes that review is completely bogus except for ati fans wanting to HEAR their cards beat at least something.

You didn't post a link, but without question the 6800 series wins in all the Doom3 benchmarks, so guess we can chalk it up as a non-valid review? Haven't read it though.

they said very clearly in the review that they could not get their hands on a GT or an ULTRA for the test and that the performance of the 6800NU was excellent in this game given the price difference wrt performance...

I dunno how this can be construed as bogus

Yeah I agree with Sazar. The 6800 NON-ULTRA ($299 MSRP) generally performs at or near the level of a X800XT PE ($499 MSRP), which is exactly what we saw in the [H]OCP benchmarks. I think some of you guys need to read more carefully ;)

yah... it looks to be a typo...

their testbed clearly states what they tested with...

I just think it's funny how except with max AA + AF the 6800 NU performs within 10% of the XTPE. And not all review sites can get their hands on every video card they'd like =)

Come on guys, what more do you want?
The 6800NU ($299) already destroyed the X800Pro ($399) and almost as fast as the XT PE ($499) in vr-zone's article!

Believe it or not, it seems some people still think (or hope) nvidia can do no wrong, and ATI can do no right.

It bothers me that some people don't bother to find out the whole matter, but look at parts they like or dislike and warp it into something totally different.

Bad things happen when you do this people. :banghead:

The article was not leaning towards the ATI X800 XT, it was quite the opposite. They stated they could not get a hold of a 6800 GT or Ultra but:

"What we learned today was that NVIDIA's backing of Doom 3 is definitely not unfounded. At press time we weren't able to get a working GeForce 6800 GT or Ultra graphics card running on the AGP bus, but we'll be getting those in later this week. Still, the standard GeForce 6800 was able to run Doom 3 almost as fast as the Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition, a card almost double its price.

NVIDIA's NV40 based cards are without a doubt what you want to be running in your system to get the most out of Doom 3 you can."

I thought the review kicked ass. How could you not? My 6800 is the little engine that could in Doom 3. It stood toe to toe with the flagship card from Ati which you can't find for the most part and costs minimum $200 more.

Now i just need the damn game to get here..
