I'm sure many of you probably got the game today so I thought I'd start a becnh thread so we can try and figure out what works best with our Radeons and D3; I used the timedemo from console to get these:

ctrl-alt-~ (for console)
type: timedemo demo1

A64 3200+ 1MB L2 cache
SiS 755
2x512MB Mushkin Blue DDR400
BBA Radeon X800 Pro 256MB
Maxtor 80GB
Turtle Beach sound
Cat 4.8b
No oc's

--------------------------------------

I ran at least 25 benches with various combinations of triple buffering with and w/o Vsync On, AA and AF combos, and resolutions.

I left all settings to maxed except for texture quality=High (not ultra).

These are the best combo I found for equal parts IQ and performance on my system:

1024x768x32
Triple Bffr=OFF 2xAA(via game options; cpl set to app pref.) 16xAF(cpl) = 44.8fps

Triple Bffr=ON Vsync=ON 2xAA 16xAF = 42.4
Triple Bffr=ON Vsync=OFF 2xAA 16xAF = 42.8
Triple Bffr=OFF Vsync=OFF 4xAA 8xAF = 33.9
Triple Bffr=OFF Vsync=OFF 4xAA 16xAF = 31.5

1280x1024x32
Triple Bffr=ON Vsync=ON 0xAA 8xAF = 35.8
Triple Bffr=OFF Vsync=OFF 2xAA 8xAF = 33.0

As you can see, triple buffering didn't make a difference for me with the X800Pro - but it seems as though a lot of people on Rage3d and Guru are showing 5-10 avg FPS increases by enabling it.

Right now, I'm going with 1024x768 T-bffr OFF 2xAA 16xAF - this seems to be the best setup for me right now and so far is running great!

Anyone else?
