I finally reached the satellite uplink and was about to send the distress call - "ARRRRG!!! Help! we're being eaten by ugly demon things and 99% of the base personal are now dead or walking zombies!!!". Just before I do so Swan appears on the screen and tells me not to do it. He may be right, the base is effectively biologically contaminated, bring in more people could just make the situation worse. After about 3 seconds of thinking about it, but I put my trust in Sarge and send the distress call. What about you guys?

Yeah me too. But later on you get chewed out by the evil doctor and he tells you that you are a fool, and he will use their ships to contaminate Earth. :(

I liked that though, it took me 5 full minutes to figure out if I should do it or not.

Thanks for that, I am at the exact same point. I initially pressed send but then I thought about it, bringing ships down here could let them get to earth etc.

So I loaded it again, and pressed cancel!

Right upto this point however, my mission in life was to send a distress call to get me off this hell! ah well!! ;)

I actually said outloud "Screw you Swan. Only way these things are getting on a ship is over my dead body" and then pressed Send. Just one of the many times I've found myself talking to this game. I finally beat it on Veteran after about a bajillion quicksaves, so I am going back on Nightmare and playing it again. You will enjoy the rest of the game. Oh the places you'll go and the ugly things you'll see. All I can say is that 1) It gets better and 2) At the end I said to myself "OMG, it's a giant butthole".

It doesn't matter what you picked, even if you cancel Dr. Betruger willl just send the distress call himself.

meh... there is a difference between not liking it and thinking it doesn't live upto expectations :D

anyways I sent the message saying the same thing mr.clawz :D

finished the game.. am running back through it in GOD mode with a chainsaw

the environment looks so much nicer when you are moving through it rapidly and now that i am going back in GOD mode I have also been exploring the exteriors w/o having to worry bout running out of air (though you still hear that god-awful hackin noise as oxygen level == 0  )

I got to the sat link last night, what to choose?
I figured there's no way Id would have created a whole second branching plotline, so I couldn't matter too much. So I canceled the transmission. Swan had a point about the demons getting to earth and...I'm not much on following orders anyway. Besides, I liked pissing off Sgt. Kelly.

Umm, duh, don't send. Then the aliens will only get access to the ships. What if they steal them and go back to earth? Something tells me sarge is just trying to get you to, I think he may be evil, Hell I only saw him once.

Yeah, he thanks you for sending it, and if you don't he sends it himself, just saying, of course you wouldn;t send it.

I think you would send it. The story implies that only the people who traveled through the portal turn into zonbies, and if you (a single marine can mow down the forces of hell) thousands of uninfected marines shouldn't have a problem at all. Not to mention, every good captain knows never to let hell spawn creatures onto the ship, and if they get on; it's self-destruct/ramming the planet time.
Besides, once the ships show up you can go with the only REAL course of action:

Nuke the site from orbit; it's the only way to be sure.
