Recently started college at the University of Phoenix in their Information Technology course. I am required to have :
Microsoft® Office XP, 2000 or 2003
Microsoft® Word
Microsoft® Power Point®
Microsoft® Excel (for selected courses)
Microsoft® Project (for selected courses)
I've looked around and have found them to be VERY expensive. I don't have alot of money as I am raising two kids on my own and go to school full time. Can anybody recommend a good place to purchase them? Should i purchase them together in a suite or seperate? Anybody have a copy of them they'd like to sell cheap?
Any help will be appreciated.

A little advise... First off, as a student you qualify for student discounted software. Look at the colleges bookstore and see if they have the programs you need discounted. Also, depending on the college and the programs, some software might or might not be supplied to registered students for the duration you're in the class...
At the very least though, look for student discounted versions to the programs you need... Either the university might sell it, or there might be some place where you can purchase this. A student ID, course schedule, or something might be needed to prove your status as a student, if they don't have your enrollment record on file to sell this...

It might be good idea to ask your tutor if it would make any difference if you used OpenOffice.org. Unless you are taking specific courses in MS Office you might save yourself a bit of money.
Is this a university wide policy as apposed to an IT department policy? I would expect the IT department to give you a few more option unless they have a special deal going on with MS.

U of Phoenix is an online school so I'm not exactly sure what their software discount policy is (if they even have one). But the MS Office suite includes all the programs on your list with the possible exception of Project. But definitely check into the school's policy on software discounts.

Actually UOP does have a few campuses, however I am using the online campus. They do sell a student version of MS Office with all but Project however it's no cheaper than i can buy it online at other retailers for the same version.
And yes i am required to have all of this software according to school policy and requirements for my major.
