Envy?

Both do certain things great, and the rest good. I am on AMd this round, but 2 rounds back, I was on a P4. No fanboy here, just gimme what is fastest...

Baseless assumption?

Fastest depends on what you are measuring. My rig does fine and slaps around quite a few high end AMD's as well. That's in and out of gaming. I am not paying 600-1000 dollars to AMD or Intel. Those X-bit numbers happen to back up my personal experience. The differences between AMD/Intel in theory are large, in actual game play results small. People can do quite well with either company. That is why I say "hype" NOT to suggest AMD isn't any good. Rather to suggest the fanboys go way overboard exaggerating any differences. If someone asks me what AMD they should get I say IMO> 64 3000(OC) 64 3200 (OC) or 3500, not, "Dude, get an Intel."

I applaud X-bit for doing something besides regurgitating the same benches.

I used to think ATi/nVidia fanboys were bad, however I think AMD fanboys have one up on them.

I don't think XBIT or ANAND made anything up or exagerated any figures.
If you look closely at what XBIT labs did for the real world game testing you'll understand why the P4's play catch up. They used FRAPS which consumes resources and cpu cycles on its own running in the background. The P4's have HT which allows them to avoid any performance penalties from the context switching between two concurrent processes.

"Real world" isn't really the word i'd choose to describe XBIT's testing.

Considering how much more expensive the XE is compared to the FX-53, I'd go with AMD.

Yeeeeaaahhh...all you AMD people think you're so great just because your 'lil processor is so fast. Blah. :p

But kudos definitely are in order for AMD here. Way to keep Intel on their collective toes. :)

Little? ;)

i think that amd tailors their processors for us gamers while intel tries to make cpu's for large businesses. a classic us-vs-the man situation.

Yey...
A64 3000+ @ 2 Ghz is hand on hand with a 3.4 EE....

Excuse while I go and shove this up someone's ass. MUAHAHAHAHA

That little prick, I hate him.

BTW, my current setup (I HAVE to update my sig someday) handles doom3 pretty good. That, or I have never seen a game run nicely in my life.
Ti4200 128mb stock, a64 3000+ stock, 768mb RAM.

Keeps me happy...:D

Wow, this is quite impressive for AMD!

Now I just hope a 'war' like the nvidiot vs fanboy one doesn't start for AMD/Intel. People don't generally have such strong opinions about CPUs. Yet....

Sir, you are right.

Sir, your are DEAD WRONG. Tell that to the intel-fanboy at my school whom I'm shoving this data up his ass.

And no, I'm not a fanboy myself. I like AMD because they offer very good solutions and a great prices.

*looks at all previous rigs, sees all of them have used AMD processors*

Me? Fanboy? Naaaaaaaaaaaaah :p

Sir, your are DEAD WRONG. Tell that to the intel-fanboy at my school whom I'm shoving this data up his ass.How does that prove what I said wrong? I said that in general, there's less adament fanboy for CPUs. You just gave one example, and that fits in with my description.

Alright, alright.... maybe I exaggerated... err... just a tad.
