fantastic..I know I love my athlon64..
I hope intel releases something just as good soon..drive down the prices and all.
Until then I don't know why anyone would get an intel extreme edition.

Hope AMD can keep innovating and stay on top, it's about time Intel saw some real competition. Makes me laugh to think that just a year ago Craig Barrett said there was no market for a 64-bit CPU and that AMD's solution was likely to fail.
man a athlon64 3000 or athlon64 2800 whoops my barton at 2.2ghz.
I wish they did one for far cry too :D

Yeeeeaaahhh...all you AMD people think you're so great just because your 'lil processor is so fast. Blah. :p
But kudos definitely are in order for AMD here. Way to keep Intel on their collective toes. :)

yea, lets hope by 2006 intel releases a chip that can beat the fx-56 :p
lol, j/p -- you set yourself up for that one ;)

it's true
my A64 2800+ system easily beat my 2.4C system easily
heh, the a64 2800 beats the p4 3.2E !!
:nanahump:
I love it! It cracks me up when people say "why get A64 when 64bit Windows is so far off?" and I can say "who gives a crap about 64bit Windows, the Athlon64 OWNZ 32bit Windows!"
:super: :super: :super:

notice in doom 3 that the Athlon Xp's marin of loss is a lot less percentage wise then in quake 3 :P all due to it being finally able to use its SSE/MMX which it couldnt do in quake 3 (or 3dnow! even for that matter)

I think Doom3 is more sensitive to memory latency more than memory bandwidth as was the case with Quake 3. And we all know Amd's got Intel by the nutts when it come's to latency performance.
Doom 3 loves Athlon64's on die memory controller.
the a64's dominate gaming performance :)
this benchmarks results should be no surprise :D

Hmm...too bad my video card sucks (its a geforce 4 ti.) I am playing the game on an Athlon 64 3200+ and I can't get a decent framerate in anything above 640x480.

not really... xbit is full of it. I'll take HardOCP's Id-sanctioned and monitored real gameplay tests over Xbit's word any day of the week

"one day Intel will release something faster probably"
And it will be a meagre eight thousand dollars.

so true
I love my A64 FX-53. I think Intel got fat and lazy over the last few years and hopefully AMD's recent efforts will force them to be more innovative again.
Well then, perhaps HardOCP and ID are "full of it?" :spam2:

the p4 is faster per equiv. amd 64 in some games/depending on situation. the p4c is a great processor imho.
xbit labs is not "full of it" lol. as they showed, using standard bench, amd 64 comes out on top, however in real game play p4 is faster (not by a wide margin however).

Envy?
Both do certain things great, and the rest good. I am on AMd this round, but 2 rounds back, I was on a P4. No fanboy here, just gimme what is fastest...

Just give me bang for the buck. Intel are a bunch of dollar *****s. Seriously a P4 EE CPU is like $1000 vs around 700-800 for an athlon FX-53 that completely owns it. EVen with the XPs I preferred AMD for bang for the buck, little less performance however the prices were dirt cheap in comparison to Intels offerings. I've been in love with AMD since they hit 1ghz and I haven't looked back since.

Oh yeah you still can't beat AMD in the "bang for buck" category...
My $175 A64, overclocked, is slapping around P4's that cost 3x as much... :ORDER: And it was so EASY to overclock it too...
