I'm trying to decide on a 22' CRT.

I have to choose from these:

NEC 22" FE2111SB DIAMONDTRONM2/SBRIGHT

PHILIPS 202P40 RealFlat, 22"

iiyama VM Pro514 (HM204DT), 22"

NEC is cheapest of the bunch and iiyama is the most expensive, while philips takes middle.


Can someone comment on them? I'm really short on cash but I need a good minor for my work and it should be a long term buy for me.

Leaning towards nec, but it has not so high refresh rate at 1600x1200 and pretty old school design.

Philips looks good, but what is the tube type? Is it totaly flat?

IIyama expensive and not so good feedback within some forums :S

Im an Iiyama person myself, had my VM 450 pro for about 5 yrs now and its still great, nothing else to say really. If I was to upgrade to a 22", I would buy that montior, I wouldnt even look at anything else, but thats me, as I havent had any problems with this one in 5 yrs.

Well.. I have the FE211SB and it roxs my soxs off.. can't comment on the other tubes though...

Hey cool, have you tried setting it like 1600x1200 @ 90hz ??
What resolution do you normaly game on and browse the web?

I run it at 1600x1200 85hz.. Since it is recommended by NEC. I have not tried a refresh rate any higher than that.

I am usually not a fan of superbright settings, stuff like that. But I use a superbright setting of "1" for all my games and browsing. It just looks so so much better. Doom3 even looks much better with a superbright setting of "1"
