NVIDIA’s GeForce 6800 cards dominate ATI X800 PRO and X800 XT Platinum Edition in DOOM 3 performance, with NVIDIA’s GeForce 6800 GT outperforming the X800 XT Platinum in a lot of cases.

The most startling part about it is that NVIDIA’s ace in the hole, UltraShadow, isn’t even enabled currently in DOOM 3.

UltraShadow not even enabled yet ...

In those 8xAF comparisons, anyone else notice some banding on the floors with Ati's optimized filtering? Compare them against Nvidia's optimized filtering shots.. They are very easy to spot.

Here are a few from the comparions. There are some more that show it on the comparison as well.

Left shot is with Nvidia's optimized Brilinear
Right is with Ati's optimized Trylinear

Looks like Ati is forcing even more bilinear filtering? This of course is with the new CAt's 3.9b. Maybe that's where the little performance boost in D3 on ati cards are coming from.

Yes fivefeet8, its just another prove that ATI's so called "smart trylinear" has problem.

This is easier to see. Click here. (http://www.skenegroup.net/tertsi/doom3/ati_optimizations/nvidia_vs_ati1.html)

You know what's funny about the IQ AF comparison is.. They enabled colored mip maps. Now we all know Ati's Trylinear algorythm detects them and does trilinear right? What's going on with all these review sites. They are pretty much off in almost every review I've seen in some sort of way..

Anandtech somehow forgets that you have to enable FSAA in the application for Nvidia cards on Far Cry?
Anandtech then messes up it's Doom3 benchmarks by posting wrong numbers for X800 cards in FSAA..
Xbitlabs decides to use Full Trilinear on Nvidia cards and compare the performance to optimized Trylinear on Ati cards?
Firing Squad then decides to compare AF image quality between Nv/ATi with colored mip maps?
And it seems most review sites still allude to setting AF per application or atleast enable Nvidia's AF optimization to compare with Ati's AF per CP optimizations.

I think Ati and Nvidia just has so many optimizations that now review sites are getting confused and forgetfull.. :retard:

The really unfortunate part is that these sorta Optimization errors could easily be fixed by adding an option to disable said optimization.
