View Full Version : Charity Shield Tommorow
Signifying the end of 2 months of boredom! :D
EPL starts Next week! Hooooorah!!!!
Too close to call it this year methinks so get ready for a fun ride till May! 2005!!
arsenal/manU...
2 horse race...
liverpool may make some early noise with chelsea and then fade as time goes...
nah mate I dun see it that way, I say us, Arse, Pool and Chelski...maybe Newcastle....
I can't see a 2 horse race this year tbh.
i really honestly can't see anyone else moving up to catch arse and manu.. newcastle and chelski made moves but still... the divide between em is something else...
3-1....
shambles...total shambles...crappy defense, no midfield ingenuity...and only 1 decent striker..Smith.

Only once in 9 seasons has the team that won the Charity Shield won the Premiership.
lol... that WAS rather a bad performance... by both
but man U really shoulda stepped it up a bit more...
good game reyes...
Ya reyes had a good game. Well we did go back and forth but my disappointment was, really the totally shambolic defending.
We have had a midfielder creativty problem since 2002 really and it still shows, I rember back to the mid 90s man those days our midfield was sparking with flair and creativity niching out chances after another.
We play 4-4-1-1 ...and hoping RVN gets to the end of a lobbed ball or soemthing ot hope that when Chris Ronaldo gets the ball he can deliver a telling cross.
Whatever, we will see as the season pans out. The only thing that is positive is that whenever we have had a bad pre-season and lost Charity shield, we won the treble in 1999 :D
wow... seems like Man U have adopted liverpools tactics since GH got there :)
We have been playing 4-4-1-1 since we got veron to accomodate our midfielders mate ;)
I wish we bought someone like Vincente, Robbens etc to ad a bit of speed and flair in the wings.

Man U were always at their best with Becks down the right and Giggs down the left. Simple awesome strikers of their day in Cole, Yorke and Sherringham with Ole iin backup. Of those only giggs remains, and with 9 players out, including ronaldo, silvestre, G Neville, Heinze and Rio Ferdinand... Its understandable Man U weren't the force they once were. Being honest I see a 3 horse race this year with Chelsea being favourites.
Chelsea have made strong signings but not gone over the top, they have a prooven very capeable manager and players detirmined to make the team. They have gone from excess to loaning out and selling their excess (note Veron sold, countless players loaned). Arsenal haven't spent much, but have spent wisley, wiith a number of players maturing and the nucleus of the squad remaining. Their season could hinge on Viera's decision.
Liverpool are the wildcard with Rafa Benitez shaping a squad that has begun to buy prooven quality over young prospects in Cisse. Up front we look awesome with Cisse, Baros and Owen. If Owen leaves that could be a little shaky, but we at least have Gerrard for a few more seasons, who in himself is probably worth 10 premiership points.
You know things are starting to hot up when sky sports changes their visual image, roll on the new season!
