View Full Version : Default desktop colour depth?

I have got latest 61.77 official dets with my GeForce4 Ti4200. On oldest driver releases you could specify the default colour depth for D3D and OpenGL applications. Now, i can't see that option anywhere. I have a D3D demo that refuses to load when my windows desktop colour depth is set to anything than 32bpp. Any ideas? :lame: :ORDER:

Probably because they figure most people are running in 32-bit color on their desktop anyway. There's no reason why you couldn't do that.

Tried the coolbits2 option, but the ability to select a default colour depth for textures was ONLY for OpenGL. Brrrr. :nanahump: :ORDER:

PS: Well, at least WinXP doesn't require rebooting when changing between 16bpp and 32bpp desktop modes.

Win98SE didnt require rebooting to change color depths either. It would ask you the first time you tried to change whether or not you wanted to restart and if you hit no. It was fine.
