View Full Version : What's the meaning of this error?
Logged in as root and then i removed NVIDIA_GLX. (rpm -e NVIDIA_GLX) Then i wrote rpm --rebuild NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-3123.src.rpm. It gave this error:
unpacking of archive failed on file NVIDIA_GLX-.0-3123.tar.gz: cpio: read
Where's the problem? Downloaded teh file three times and every time same error. Installing kernel went fine.
I have SuSE 8.1 if it helps.
Sorry wrong alert. I solved the problem by downloading the packet as root. Last three times I tried with mozilla, it didn't really download the package again, it had put the package "somewhere" in temp, so it just copied it from there to where I was "downloading" it... I tried to download as root and this time mozilla didn't have the package in "memory"... weird...
why use rpms? build from tarballs and you wont have problems

And then on subsequent attempts, Mozilla copied the corrupted version from his cache (~/.mozilla/<username>/Cache; deleting the files in there should have also cleared stuff out), rather than going back and getting a non-corrupted copy.
Yes, the .tar.gz drivers are nice. But I wouldn't recommend switching now, since you already got the .rpm's to work just fine...
